Surrounded by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Oman, Musandam not only has a breathtakingly dramatic landscape, it also has one of the widest bio-diversities of marine life in the world.
The Musandam Peninsula offers 23 beautiful and unique dive sites. These dive sites boast healthy coral reefs with incredible bio-diversity, they include a variety of wall and drift dives as well as 2 wrecks.
The reefs are situated on a sloping bottom with depths ranging from 3m down to 35m, and while it is possible to do some shore entry dives from a secluded beach, most dives are done from a speedboat or traditional dhow.
Diving in Musandam is great all-year round! While the diving conditions are consistent throughout the year, you might want to plan your trip according to the seasons and water temperature.
During the summer season between June and August, the water temperatures are between 28-30 degrees celsius. It is warm enough to dive without a wetsuit, but a thin suit or a shorty will also be beneficial. The water temperature during winter, December-February, ranges between 21-24 degrees celsius. A full wetsuit of 5mm is recommended.
The most popular time of year to visit Musandam is during September-December when air temperatures are cooler and outdoor activities are ideal.
Musandam is located in the north of Oman and borders the United Arab Emirates. It can be accessed by plane, car or boat. The nearest international airport is Dubai int, where you can rent a car and do the 2.5 hour drive to Musandam. There are also domestic flights available to Khasab airport. A visa is required to enter Oman, you can apply for an e-visa through the government website.
