Diving Rarotonga

Explore diving Rarotonga

Love a little Paradise in beautiful Rarotonga.

The great majority of diving is from a boat, shore dives risk strong currents in the passages through the reef.

40+ regular dive sites all around the Island, the North being more popular due to the topography, reef and wrecks there. It's also sheltered from the prevailing Easterly trade winds.

Beautiful and varied Coral gardens surround the Island, the reef face is peppered with caverns, gullies and caves which are fantastic to dive when conditions are  right. Huge variety of marine life in depths to suit all ages and certification levels. The visibility here is incredible! Whenever you Dive Rarotonga you'll see something different each time.

When to dive Rarotonga

Year round diving. Water temperature peaks at around 29 degrees C in Summer (February is probably the warmest) with lows of 24 degrees in Winter. Regardless of season, the diving is varied and interesting with changing species throughout the year. Visibilty peaks in June / July, hitting the 70 metre mark

Humpback Whales visit us from July through to October with an occasional Calf coming to check out the divers. We stay 300 metres from the Whales but they don't know the rules, so can come incredibly close when the boat is moored!

Top side, the climate is beautiful, more humid in Summer. Huge variety of activities for the non-diver and a huge range of food and accommodation to suit all pockets

More Information

By Air! We're a dot in the middle of the Pacific Ocean but have an international airport.

Pre Covid, regular scheduled direct flights came in from Los Angeles, Aukland and Sydney with connections globally.

Once you arrive, having had a Jurassic Park moment when you see the extinct twin vent volcano surrounded by cloud forest one side and the azure blue Pacific on the other, Island life takes over.

Most accommodation and operators will get you collected and taken to your resort. Dive operators are all licenced for passenger transport and can transport you and your equipment between resort and dive centre
