From the marina along the coastline towards the lighthouse, is a marine preserve with lots of varieties of coral, and lots of ocean life. You will see lots of species of fish, turtles, spotted eels, and the occasional spiny lobster or nurse shark.
As with all areas of Rincon, you can explore the underwater world by swimming, snorkeling, and diving - all from the shore!
The water temperature in PR is always great, but the water is typically more clear in the summer. Winter storms in the Atlantic do make their way to the Caribbean, which can cause water visibility to vary, but anytime is a GREAT time to be underwater in Puerto Rico!
Rincon is on the west side of the island, so you have two methods of travel once to get to the island: driving or taking a short flight on a prop plane. Driving from San Juan can take quite a while due to road conditions and traffic, but if you are staying on the island a while, it's very nice to have transportation as Uber is not established all over the island.
