Dive center

Borneo Dream is a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort #36409 located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo. Sabah is part of the Coral Triangle and home to a wide diversity of tropical marine life. We focus on high quality, safety and enjoyment - that’s why we have the best diving day boats in Kota Kinabalu - a 10m x 4m catamaran Borneo Dream 3, a 10m x 3.5m Trimaran called Borneo Dream Elvis.

We dive and snorkel predominantly in the local marine park just 10 to 15 minutes from Kota Kinabalu. Called Tunku Abdul Rahman, where we conducted everything from PADI Discover Scuba Diving to PADI Divemaster Courses. We run daily guided snorkelling tours along with leisure diving.

All our courses and tours include complete equipment and all necessary PADI materials. 99% of the academic teaching is done online eLearning before you join us. All our equipment is regularly serviced and maintained to the highest standards by external companies to have full traceability.

Along with diving and snorkelling trips, we offer land-based tours to see the fantastic Borneo wildlife, such as orangutans, elephants and sun bears. If you are looking for the taste of adrenaline, then consider some white water rafting or test yourself by climbing Mount Kinabalu 4096 metres.

What to expect

This course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives.

You try out different specialities while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. There are two required dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three, for a total of five dives. During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time. The other knowledge and skills you get vary with your interest and the adventures you have – photography, buoyancy control, fish identification, search and recovery and many more.

The typical outline itinerary is as follows:

Pre-study Session

As with all PADI Courses, there is some pre-study. However, with PADI eLearning it is relatively painless and super quick :-)

Day 1

You will meet our Dive crew at 8:45 am at Jesselton Point Jetty in central Kota Kinabalu. Today you will complete two of your five PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course dives in our local marine park, with lunch on a tropical island. Depending upon your understanding of the academic side of things more reviews and learning may take place over lunch. After your afternoon dive, you'll be transferred back to Jesselton Jetty arriving ~ 16:00hrs.

Day 2

Today will be a bit more exciting as you will complete three-course dives - two dives before lunch and one after. After your afternoon dive, you'll be transferred back to Jesselton Jetty arriving ~ 16:00hrs.
