As the only resort within Komodo National Park, you'll reach the best dive sites in a third of the time it takes others travelling from other resorts. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Komodo National Park is an incredible destination for visitors who enjoy diving, snorkelling and trekking. This unique biosphere contains almost 6000 Komodo dragons, deer, monkeys, lizards, birds and biodiverse, turquoise waters. Pay a visit to this pristine landscape and you'll be blown away!

Komodo Island is an adults-only retreat, providing the ultimate in wild, Indonesian escapism. In your traditionally designed lodge, you'll find a large comfortable bed, an enclosed bathroom and a private veranda with seating- ideal for lazy afternoons and soaking up the breath-taking sunsets. Follow the path from your room to the beach and you'll find your own partially shaded wooden beach deck with a pair of sun loungers. Just a few steps down the beach, you'll find the open air restaurant, hosting a weekly pizza night. When you aren't diving, don't miss out on a trip to the pink beaches, Padar or Komodo Island or to see the flying foxes take off every evening from their mangrove home to fly together towards Flores!

Explore diving around the Komodo Resort and Diving Club

Best dive sites in Komodo

Tatawa Kecil – The small island of Tatawa Kecil has a big reputation with divers. In fact, this underwater playground is a Komodo classic. There’s a mix of swim throughs, small caves, bommies and valleys which harbour huge numbers, and a huge diversity, of fish including reef sharks, jacks, batfish, snappers, groupers, sweetlips and occasionally a passing ray. Cannibal Rock – A firm favourite with macro photographers and those wanting to see some of Komodo’s more unusual marine life, Cannibal Rock is home to frogfish, pygmy sea horses, nudibranchs and coleman shrimp. This seamount dive site is famous for invertebrate species and colourful soft corals and, being quite sheltered, it’s a good site if you want a break from drift diving. The Cauldron – True to its name, The Cauldron looks like the top of a boiling pot and the crater offers many nooks and crannies to explore. Explore the macro life down one side, then be prepared for the contrast when you reach the bottom and find yourself surrounded by big fish. You’ll leave The Cauldron via the channel where dense schools of small to medium sized fish congregate. Only after you’ve dived here will you truly understand why it’s so iconic. Batu Bolong – Marine life gathers here as though the huge rock pinnacle is a magnet drawing them in. In the blue, you’ll see sharks and tuna hunting while schools of smaller fish dart around in synchrony. On the pinnacle itself the colours will astound you along with the sheer number of small reef fish swimming in and out of corals trying to keep up with the action. Pillarsteen – Pillarsteen boasts incredible topography including a number of caves and swim throughs. Peering into many of the crevices don’t be surprised to find something looking back at you! Marine life highlights here include a range of crustaceans, moray eels, often a passing shark or turtle, and plenty of reef fish. If macro is more your thing, take a close look at the soft corals and you won’t be disappointed – this site has something for everyone.

What to see

Komodo might be most famous for its larger inhabitants – think manta rays, sharks, eagle rays, tuna, jacks, trevallies, bumphead parrotfish and Napoleon wrasse - but the abundance of smaller fish is phenomenal – prepare to be amazed.

As the only dive resort within the Komodo National Park, you will gain incomparable access to some of the best diving in the area. With multiple trips running per day, have your pick of what the local marine environment has to offer. As an intimate dive center, the team here are able to be incredibly flexible, tailoring the excursions to the select number of guests currently diving with them. Whatever your preference, you'll be whisked off on traditional spacious boats to discover the underwater wonders that await, be they mantas, macro life, turtles, sharks or the hugely bio-diverse coral reefs. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, the waters of this region are home to more than 253 species of coral and 1000 fish species. Komodo's currents create impeccable conditions for drift diving, perfect for more experienced divers looking for a challenge, or those wishing to gain their drift diving speciality.

Each boat is set over two levels, with a shady and large lower level with fresh water tanks for equipment and toilet facilities. The upper level is reserved purely for relaxing and enjoying the scenery as you cruise to and from dive site. Should you wish to explore to the south, a speed boat is available to take up to 6 divers further afield. The local and international staff at Sebayur Diving are fun, friendly and experienced, and look forward to sharing this unique underwater ecosystem with you. The shop itself is fully stocked with all sizes and styles of diving gear available for rent, including equipment for underwater photography. Whether it be continuing education or an open water course, you can be sure that the team will design a diving itinerary that suits your preferences and experience level.
