Resort Description

Visit Bunaken in North Sulawesi to discover the heart of the Bunaken Marine National Park, for underwater flora and biodiversity that will take your breath away. Spot turtles, reef sharks, sea snakes, dolphins, pilot whales, eagle rays and even the occasional dugong or sperm whale! The conditions in this tiny pocket of our ocean are fantastic for keen photographers, or those looking to get their underwater photography speciality. The calm waters around these buzzing reefs provide a plethora of photo subjects! While you’re gliding past that sheer wall, keep an eye out for the small critters too, as you may just find a pygmy seahorse, nudibranch, scorpionfish, tiny decorator crab or neon coloured blenny. These protected waters are leading the way in sustainable dive tourism, so rest assured that there’ll be no crowds in sight, and the coral will be thriving. Staying in the epicentre of all the underwater action gives you the chance to get involved in some exciting night diving- see for yourself how the reefs transform as the sun goes down.

Two Fish Resort Bunaken offers a remote yet comfortable diving base on Bunaken Island. Take the 45 minute boat trip from Manado and you’ll discover a beach-side resort with wooden cottages, free WiFi and a brand new swimming pool. Each cottage’s balcony comes with a hammock, so you can lounge the afternoon away with a good book. Kick back and relax, ready for your next adventurous dive, as the resort’s own restaurant has you covered with an after dive beer and three plentiful, authentic meals per day. With dive resorts all over Indonesia, these guys know their stuff. You’ll enjoy long dives, quality boats and guides who know the local reefs like the back of their hand. Each traditional cottage is just steps from the beach where the boat is docked, and from there, it’s on average only 10 minutes to each dive site. Combine that with the fact the resort caters to a maximum of 24 divers, and you’ve got a recipe for a convenient, comfortable and personalised diving vacation.

Explore diving around the Two Fish Divers Bunaken

What to see

If it’s weird, you are likely to find it in the Lembeh Straits. Top critters on every diver and photographers wish list include the mimic octopus, Wonderpus, Rhinopias, flamboyant cuttlefish, Ambon scorpionfish, harlequin shrimp, and the very entertaining hairy frogfish. If lucky, you might also come across the delicate Lembeh Sea Dragon. Also, be boggled by the wide array of nudibranch and during night dives, look out for stargazers in the sand and Spanish dancers passing by in the darkness.

At areas like Bunaken and the nearby Bangka, dolphins or pilot whales can sometimes be seen from the surface. Underwater, expect green sea turtles, schools of trevally and colorful reef fish along the many walls. Bangka and Manado Tua also feature a myriad of critters.

If you dive around the Sangihe Archipelago and Talaud Islands, the healthy reefs and volcanic activity yield many colorful reef fish and schools of fusilier, snapper and predators like trevally, barracuda and Dogtooth tuna. Macro life is also abundant and there are pygmy seahorses, crabs and shrimp as well as nudibranch to find at muck dive sites. Look out for pelagic animals which come to feed and clean like manta rays, sharks and even hammerhead sharks.

Description

The Two Fish Bunaken Dive Center is a purpose built, authentically designed building in the middle of the dive resort. Super convenient to access, both from the dive vessels and your accommodation, both situated just steps away on the beach. Have a dip in the 18m pool, relax on the remote beach, in the tropical garden or in your own private hammock- just make sure you stay hydrated with the complimentary drinking water, coffee and tea. Diving around Bunaken Marine National Park offers thriving tropical eco-systems, plush with colourful hard and soft corals, hundreds of reef fish, macro critters, turtles, dolphins, sharks, mantas and the occasional dugong or pilot whale. In addition, the center has convenient access to a number of reefs, ideal for those looking to gain their wreck speciality or explore some unique history. Take for instance the Manado Wreck- its exact origins are debated, but we do know this 60m ship sunk in WWII and has become home to a whole host of marine life. This is a dive suited to more experienced divers, but for those of you looking for something more suitable for a beginner, you are spoilt for choice. Voted the best wall-diving in Asia in 2004, this protected area serves up countless sloping reefs to explore. A great option for all you photography enthusiasts out there!

When diving with Two Fish, you can guarantee that you’ll visit the dive sites that really suit you, weather permitting. Every dive group does not exceed 4 people per guide, and is organised to reflect air consumption and experience. This allows you more control over where you want to go and what you want to see, while also giving you the maximum time underwater. As a Two Fish Divers policy, you’ll only be asked to surface after 75 minutes or 40bar. Each guide has a thorough understanding of the local dive sites and how to handle photography gear and accessories, helping you to get the most out of your visit. And with a load, wash and store service, all you’ll need to think about is diving, diving, and more diving! The center has a library of fish books so you can review what you saw with a cool beer in hand. Also available is a well-stocked dive shop, supplying replacement masks and accessories, should the need arise.
