Over the last 40+ years of providing unique and unforgettable experiences to our guests, we are known as “the island of hospitality”. Our commitment to provide caring hospitality is the highest priority. The COVID-19 has fundamentally changed how we operate in new normal to maintain hygienic standards and provide safety and security while respecting privacy of our guests. We have developed and implemented a safety protocol focusing on 20 key areas of service excellence across the island which complements existing service standards. The new cleaning and disinfection procedures pays attention to details of health & safety measures with continuous training to our dedicated team. Under the health and safety procedure of the resort, specific arrangements will be made if a guest has to be quarantined/isolated. 1. Continuous training Associates are trained on HACCP standards and comprehensive health & safety and hygiene standards. 2. Welcome/Greetings We greet with our hearts by resting our palm on our hearts. 3. Arrival transfer We arrange transfers on your arrival flights time. All our transfer boats are equipped with hand sanitizers and crew on-board wears required PPEs. Guests should sanitize hands, wear face masks prior to boarding and follow physical distancing on-board. 4. Luggage sanitizing On arrival your luggage will be identified, tagged in the airport. Upon arrival to the resort luggage will be sanitized before delivering to the room. 5. Temperature check We administer temperature check of guests upon arrival and prior to joining activities and events such as excursions and diving. 6. Check-in Guests will be asked to provide information required for check-in prior to arrival. Check-in will take place in a designated area with physical distancing in place. Cashless payments are encouraged. 7. Physical distance Physical distance measures are practiced throughout the resort. 8. Sanitizing stations Hand sanitizing stations are installed in all the public areas, Restaurants, Bars and Reception. 9. Ventilation/Air circulation All our restaurants (except one) and lobbies are open to the outdoors. Transfer vessels are ventilated. Room air-conditioning filters are cleaned and disinfected prior to check-in for improved air quality. 10. Accommodation All rooms and villas are cleaned and sanitized to the heist standards on a daily basis. 11. Bar & Restaurants Hand sanitizers are installed at the entrance. Seating arrangements are made to comply with physical distancing instructions. 12. Food & Beverage safety We follow HACCP standards and safety protocol when quenching your thirst. 13. Private dining Private dining on the beach and in your room at your convenience is provided with added hygiene standards. 14. Cleaning and disinfecting Commonly touched items and surfaces are frequently cleaned and sanitized. 15. Use of Protective Equipment All our service associates wear appropriate PPE at all times. 16. Diving, Excursions, Water sports and other activities Private events can be organised with required safety measures in place. Group events are organised with required safety measures and following physical distancing to minimize contact with others. 17. Life jackets Clean and disinfected life jackets are provided free of charge. 18. Fitness and Pool area Physical distance, enhanced cleaning schedules are implemented for added hygienic standards. Advance booking is required to use the fitness centre. 19. Medical Clinic service Well-equipped and fully certified medical team is available at the resort in case of medical emergencies. 20. Check-out / Departure Departure advice will be shared one day before the departure date. Cash-less payment is encouraged at check-out. Guests should sanitize their hands, wear face masks prior to boarding departure transfer and follow physical distancing on-board.

What to see

The North Male Atoll is famous for its variety of species. Elsewhere in the Maldives, divers don’t gape at beautiful corals, but in the North Male Atoll, many of the reefs are extremely healthy and provide shelter for a ton of marine life. Frogfish, moray eels, nudibranchs, schools of fusiliers and hundreds of other colorful fish species reside here.

While the neighboring Ari Atoll is more famed for its pelagic species, spotting something big is not a rarity in the North Male Atoll either. It is not uncommon to see manta rays, whale sharks, hammerheads, hawksbill turtles, grey reef sharks and eagle rays on occasion.

Wherever you dive in the North Male Atoll, you are sure to be astounded by both the variety of environments and species you encounter in just a few dives.

Dive Bandos is one of the longest established centres in the country, offering lush underwater gardens, colourful fishes and magnificent seascapes.

We tend to our underwater environments with the recent introduction of our Coral Gardening Project, which guests can take part in too.

Resort Description

Bandos Maldives is set on a coral island in the Indian Ocean surrounded by a white sand beach, blue seas and exotic vegetation. 

The resort opened in 1972 and offers divers the chance to swim with turtles, reef fish and macro life. Look out for mantas forming their rare feeding formation at Manta Point between May and October. 

Thatched roof villas are tucked amongst the greenery, dotted along the waterfront or hover over the clear blue lagoon. Each air-conditioned space comes with a WiFi, a flat screen TV, king sized bed, safe and tea/coffee making facilities. Complimentary drinking water is refilled daily. 

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the open-sided buffet restaurant. 4 eateries offer authentic Thai cuisine, local dishes and western favourites in a pool side, over-water or beach bar environment. Enjoy tropical cocktails as you watch the sun set over the rippling waves. 

Get involved in night fishing, sunset dolphin cruises, snorkelling trips or island hopping. Tours of Male and glass bottom boat trips are available. The Orchid Spa provides a full menu of Asian inspired healing therapies. 

The resort runs weekly live band, karaoke and disco evenings.

How to get there


  • Upon arrival at Velana International Airport in Male, a resort representative will be at the arrival terminal area to greet you
  • The representative will hold a sign with the resort's name and they will wait directly after the exit door after the customs area
  • If you can't find the Bandos representative, please visit Counter Number 2 in Zone A
  • The representative will escort you to their privat speedboat
  • The boat ride to the resort is a short 10-15 minute journey

At the resort

  • Upon arrival to the resort, guests are welcomed at the jetty by the resort hosts and escorted for check-in
  • A copy of the passports is taken, registration forms completed and an introduction to the island is done by the Guest Service Agent.
  • Guests are then escorted to their rooms with an introduction to the island being done by the resort host
  • The front desk is available 24/7 for any concerns or questions
  • The Dive Center is open from 09:00 – 18:00; if dives are pre-booked outside of the opening hours, meeting time and place will be discussed when the dive is booked


  • Checkout time is by 12:00h noon, however, if guests have a later departure flight, arrangements can be made with the front desk
  • Departure transfers will be arranged according to the departure time of the international flight or after correspondence with the next resort/guest house etc. and guests will be informed of timings (at the very latest, the night before departure)
