Once we receive your booking, we double check availability with the dive operator and reserve your spot

2. CONFIRMATION

We usually get back to you within 24 hours to confirm that your booking is final

3. 48H FREE CANCELLATION PERIOD

You then have 48 hours to take care of other travel arrangements. Your credit card will only be charged after that period

Description

Big Blu Mafia Island Dive Centre is a large, fully-equipped dive center on Mafia Island, Tanzania. 

The team offer a broad range of shore and boat diving trips to 16+ dive sites around Chloe Bay and beyond. 

Facilities include a large wet-room where you can hang and store your hired or personal diving gear during your stay. Most rental equipment was purchased in 2015-2016, and all is well-maintained and looked after.

There are several dhows (traditional wooden boats) and a fibreglass boat. If the wind is good, it is possible to sail to each dive site.

A full range of recreational, specialty and professional PADI courses are available.

Resort Description

Big Blu Mafia Island Dive Centre & Resort is located within Utende's Marine Park, on the South-East coast of Mafia Island. 

The resort boasts a beachfront location with panoramic views of Chole Bay. Safari tents and bungalows are set within tropical Tanzanian gardens and shaded by palm trees. 

The on-site restaurant serves locally-inspired breakfast, lunch and dinner with peaceful ocean views. 

Besides diving, guests can explore Chole Island, Kua Lagoon & Ruins and local sandbanks. It is possible to snorkel with whale sharks (November - March), watch turtles hatch (June - Sept) or go whale watching (July - September). 

How to get there

Arrival 

  • The best airport to fly to is Mafia Airport
  • Return-trip transfers can be arranged in advance to pick you up from the airport (additional cost, confirm your transfer at time of booking). 
  • Check in time is 12pm. 

Departure

  • Check out time is 10am.
  • The resort offers round-trip transfers from/to Mafia Airport (advance notice required, additional cost).
