Barrel Sponge Wall is named for its abundance of Giant Barrel Sponges, which thrive on north-facing sites.
This site boasts 17 massive barrel sponges, all over 15 years old. Watch closely, and you’ll see them filtering water and venting it through their chimneys. Some divers even use non-toxic dye to visualize this process! If the size seems unbelievable, bring a measuring tape to confirm. But remember—climbing into the sponges is strictly off-limits, no matter how tempting!

The site features tall, sloped buttresses descending toward the drop-off along a sandy bottom. Divers can weave through these vast formations, admiring the rich marine life.
Water clarity here is exceptional, making it worth pausing mid-dive to hover and take in the surroundings. Watching fellow divers floating in the distance against the fading blue backdrop is mesmerizing, offering a humbling sense of scale.
