Dumbo is an elephant sculpture placed here by disgruntled Cayman Islands Dive Lodge employees. To quit in style, they elephant-napped the manager’s beloved statue, took it diving, and chained it to the reef—then filmed themselves dropping the key into the abyss before sending the video with their resignations! The chain has long since rusted away, but Dumbo remains, surveying his underwater kingdom.

To quit in style, they elephant-napped the manager’s beloved statue, took it diving, and chained it to the reef—then filmed themselves dropping the key into the abyss before sending the video with their resignations! The chain has long since rusted away, but Dumbo remains, surveying his underwater kingdom.
The pin sits at the bottom of the sloped miniwall, with Dumbo’s perch just a short swim south. Now overgrown with algae and coral, he blends into the reef. Keep an eye out at 80 feet—he’s waiting on a small ledge!
Beyond Dumbo, the site features multiple ledges offering a striking horizontal contrast to the steep drop-off. These ledges not only give divers a chance to rest but also provide shelter for Surgeonfish, Butterflyfish, and Damselfish. No elephants, but still plenty to see!
