The M/F Ærøsund was scuttled the 5 October 2014, and since then it has become a fascinating attraction for divers from both Denmark and abroad. It has also attracted a host of frilled anemones, sea anemones, seaweed plants and all kinds of marine creatures.
The wreck has been cleared of all environmentally hazardous materials and prepared for divers, which means that you don’t need to worry about getting stuck or encountering unstable parts of the vessel.
The wreck lies at a depth of around 19 metres, with the top of the funnel just 6 metres below the surface. The current is light to non-existent and the dive site is approximately 600 metres from the coast. All these conditions make the wreck of the M/F Ærøsund a straightforward and accessible dive – and we will naturally help you make your way to the site.
This could also be an excellent opportunity to take the PADI Wreck Diver course during a weekend trip. This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skill to conduct wreck dives safely.
