The Southern part of Protea Banks is dived during our summer months. It is easier to dive than the Northern area. The depth is about around 32 meters but the average depth is 20m. The duration of the dive is about 45minutes .Due to conditions you need to be an Advanced diver with at least 35 dives. Best if you have dived in the last year.

The Scalloped Hammer Heads come in large schools of up to

Giant Guitar sharks come in large numbers to Sand Shark Gulley during the summer but can in appear in smaller numbers at any time of the year. The amazing Tiger Sharks also frequents this area from February to May. Black Ribbon Tail Rays also like to spend time on the Southern part of Protea Banks.
Baited Dives are conducted in this area. Great for real close encounters with Sharks. If you are a keen photographer then get ready for some great photo opportunities.
