Part of the Merri Marine Sanctuary, Stingray Bay is a shallow bay with a reef system to the West near Middle Island, to the South and to the East with swim throughs, rocky ledges, kelp forests, an abundant array of different fish life, Eagle Rays, Smooth Rays and skates. This is a breeding area for crayfish too.
Shallow enough to snorkel and still see the wonderful fish life, but a marvelous dive too.
Low tide is best, otherwise you walk through shallow water for up to 200m
Low swell 1.5m or less on an Easterly or Northerly wind.
Southerly winds are not good for this dive site.
