Explore diving in Kentucky

The Dam at Laurel Lake is a popular spot amongst local divers. The clear water and submerged rock formations make Laurel River Lake home to freshwater fish including stripers, crappie, bass, walleye and catfish.

La Grange quarry is a 7-acre rock quarry with amazingly clear warm rain water. Divers will be joined on most dives with bass, bluegill, catfish, and paddlefish. There are also sunken boats, cars and trucks to explore. Originally created as a training facility for divers, it’s still used by for divers for their certification.

If time is on your side, about 20 miles from Mammoth Cave National Park is Nolin River Lake in south central Kentucky.

When to dive in Kentucky

Water is warmest in summer and clearest in winter. The temperature drops steeply below the thermocline, making drysuits highly recommended in cooler seasons.
