Ponta Do Ouro or " Point of Gold " is a small beach town in the southernmost tip of Mozambique known for its sandy beaches , friendly atmosphere and excellent diving . The area is situated in the Maputo National Marine Reserve / The Maputo National Park and is declared as both a Marine Protected Area (MPA) and Hope spot . Ponta Do Ouro offers warm subtropical weather with warm clear water . The healthy subtropical reef systems have a lot to offer , ranging from your most colourful nudibranchs all the way up to the majestic Humpback Whales . There is over 30 different dive sites to explore ranging in depths 8m - 40m . The reef dives is good all year round offering both macro and megafauna , the reefs are known for hosting unique coral species , large school of tropical fish and diverse species of shark and rays . Ponta Do Ouro is famous for the unabaited shark diving where you can find up to 8 species of shark during the summer months . During the Winter the Shark activity slows down and the migration of the Humpback Whales starts . The Humpback Whale migration is incredible to witness and divers often have incredible underwater encounters with these gentle giants . Ponta Do Ouro also has the sea turtle nesting season ranging from the end of November through to the end of February where both the the Leatherback sea turtle and Loggerhead lay their eggs on our beaches . Divers often encounter 4 species of turtles on the shallow reef dives . Ponta Do Ouro offers incredible encounters both in and out of the water and always leaves unforgettable memories . Ponta Do Ouro offers good warm weather but can be affected by wind and swell . Situated in the Maputo National Park the option to do Bush Safari's is possible on Windy days

The turtle nesting season starts in the beginning of November and ends at the end of February
The shark season starts in the beginning of October and ends in the beginning of May
The Humpback Whale migration starts at the end of July and ends in the beginning of November
The Bottlenose & Spinner Dolphins are around all year and are often spotted both underwater and from the boats
