Cagayan de Oro boasts of multiple coral reefs for all levels of diving. Shallow, sandy areas with coral patches for dive students and newbie divers to excellent coral reefs and steep slopes for the advanced and adventurous ones.
Marine turtles and other large pelagics abound in marine protected areas while macro creatures such as nudibranchs, seahorses, shrimps and crabs abound in other sites. Freshwater springs erupt underwater creating a unique fauna in some dive sites while mounds and offshore atolls and sandbars are found in other areas.
When lucky, whalesharks, thresher sharks, and whitetips might drop by on your dives while eagle rays, devil rays, and mantas are not uncommon..
Diving around Cagayan de Orois all year round. Due to the location, the area is generally shielded from typhoons but occasional ones may pass but will usually just last a day or 2 maximum, and then its diving days again.
