Description

The Tortuga liveaboard is a stationary houseboat that is more hotel than boat

The liveaboard Tortuga is a roomy and quaint stationary hotel in close proximity to the natural wonders of the Gardens of the Queen, or the Jardines de la Reina, in Spanish. This cozy and Diver friendly accommodation enables guests to spend time customizing their schedule, diving with Sharks twice a day or spending more time exploring unknown dive sites. You are sure to have great marine life encounters no matter which sites you dive in the Gardens of the Queen.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The liveaboard Tortuga is a 110-foot, two-deck houseboat run by two Italian Managers and a friendly crew. Anchored in a protected channel, this floating liveaboard hotel provides a unique opportunity for staying in the Gardens of the Queen. As an added bonus, you’ll never get seasick on this unique liveaboard because it never moves.

More a floating hotel than a liveaboard, the liveaboard Tortuga is located in the Jardines de la Reina. Each week, the delightful liveaboard crew on board this remote hotel welcomes guests for 6-night stays. Adventures will begin on a Saturday in the Cuban port town of Jucaro. You will then be brought by speed boat to this unique dive resort which lies two to three hours off the Cuban mainland.

From the Tortuga, Divers can easily access the remote Coral Reefs and Mangrove Islands of the Gardens of the Queen. Dive sites that are rarely explored can be found a short 10-20 minute boat ride from the liveaboard hotel.

On the Tortuga, you will be able to live close to the nature of the Gardens of the Queen without giving up the comforts of a hotel.

Completely fitted with Divers in mind, the liveaboard Tortuga accommodates scuba equipment and diving routines in every way possible. A spacious Dive Deck boasts dive gear storage and rinse tanks. Full gear rental can be arranged. DIN adaptors are provided for those in need.

Divers have access to a large, air-conditioned lounge in the middle of the main deck.

On either side of the lounge are two outdoor areas. These are fitted with chairs and tables for relaxing in the Caribbean sun after a long day of diving. The Foredeck is a very nice place to enjoy our pizza appetizer and drink Cocktails or smoke Cuban cigars before or after dinner. Electricity on board is supplied by generators located nearby and it is available twenty-four hours a day. There are many outlets on board that provide both 110 and 220V.

The liveaboard Tortuga is large enough to accommodate 18 guests in 8 cabins. Two liveaboard cabins have a quad capacity with two sets of bunk beds. Five cabins feature one set of bunk beds and an additional single bed. The final cabin boasts a double bed. Every liveaboard stateroom also includes individually-controlled air conditioners, ample storage space and ensuite bathrooms with hot water showers. WiFi is available via a satellite on the liveaboard Tortuga. Guests will need their own WiFi-enabled device to enjoy access. Nitrox is not available .

You won’t believe the delicious food served on the liveaboard Tortuga

Every day you will be treated to Lobster and fresh Seafood among other International and Cuban favorites. Don’t forget to save room for dessert! The Cuban flan and rum cake are often the cherry on top of a scrumptious meal. Divers will be well-equipped for the rigors of the underwater world while staying on the Tortuga.

During your stay on the liveaboard Tortuga, all meals, plenty of snacks and 2L of water each day, bottled mineral water sparkling and tonic water, various soft drinks, juices, beers, rums, whisky and excellent wines (6 beverages/ day included in the package) are included. Other Wine, beer, cocktails, soft drinks and fresh juices are available for purchase at the hotel bar. Kosher and Vegetarian meals can be served with advance notice. You’ll be able to enjoy your meals in the air-conditioned Dining Area or outdoors under the bright Caribbean stars.

  • The Diviac team will be able to explain the best way for procuring the necessary paperwork to get to Cuba (visa/tourist card, affidavit, etc.)
  • It has never been easier to get to Cuba also for Americans, read our how to get there guide here: http://magazine.diviac.com/visa-requirements-for-diving-holiday-in-cuba/
