We have been operating in the Red Sea in Egypt for over 40 years. The first centre was opened in Sharm El Sheikh in 1992 by Mr. Freddy Storheil, a Norwegian who had run liveaboards in the Red Sea since 1977, before opening up his first centre. The name “Colona” comes from Freddy’s first boat he ran liveaboards with. The second centre opened in Hurghada in 1999, and after a huge success, the third centre opened in El Gouna in 2001. The fourth centre opened in Marsa Alam in 2010. Unfortunately, we had to close the dive centre in Sharm El Sheikh due to less flights arriving. Thus, footfall fell dramatically. In 2020, the world was faced with the Covid-19 pandemic. This impacted hugely on our operations which resulted in the closure of our dive centres in Hurghada and Marsa Alam. In 2022, we decided to move our dive centre from El Gouna to Hurghada and that is where we are located now. Since beginning of 2023 we are also a PADI Instructor Diving Centre (IDC).
