Carreiro dos Cações is a north-facing bay. The ancients say that this bay used to be full of "Smooth-hound" sharks, which rested there under the Kelp forest. The depth varies from 5 to 13 metres. The dive usually starts inside the bay in the lower area where there is plenty of life and it is very common for schools of small fish to take shelter inside from other predators. Carreiro dos Cações is a north-facing bay. The ancients say that this bay used to be full of "Smooth-hound" sharks, which rested there under the Kelp forest. The depth varies from 5 to 13 metres. The dive usually starts inside the bay in the lower area where there is plenty of life and it is very common for schools of small fish to take shelter inside from other predators. As you move out of the bay it is common to find Cowbreams feeding on algae. In the outer part of the bay, there is a sandy area where you'll find Common Sole and a very favourable area for Rays. Along the walls we can find cavities with Forkbeards, Congers and Morey Eels. It's a calm dive for all types of divers.
