Diving in Eritrea

Explore diving in Eritrea

Located along the southern Red Sea, diving in Eritrea offers some of the most pristine and least-dived waters in the region. The Dahlak Archipelago, made up of hundreds of islands, features untouched coral reefs, lagoons, walls, and drop-offs teeming with marine life. Divers can encounter reef sharks, dolphins, turtles, rays, napoleon wrasse, and dense schools of tropical fish. With minimal tourism pressure and excellent coral health, Eritrea scuba diving is ideal for adventurous divers seeking remote, unspoiled Red Sea diving.

When to dive in Eritrea

The best time for scuba diving in Eritrea is from October to May, when seas are calmer and visibility is excellent. Water temperatures range from 24–30°C, making diving comfortable year-round. Summer months can bring extreme heat and stronger winds, which may limit access to some sites. Careful seasonal planning ensures optimal conditions for diving in Eritrea, especially around the Dahlak Islands.
