The sea between Piran and Strunjan offers great underwater landscapes and a wide variety of marine life. Piran regulars include squid, octopus, seahorse, lobsters gobies, sea perch and cuttlefish.
Cave diving is also popular and can be done in Postojna, Skocjan and in the tunnel at Wild Lake.
Maona Rossa is a vessel described as a “trailer”, it is without its own propulsion and is towed by another ship. Used for transportation of different cargo, it was sunk during WW2. Around the wreck it is possible to see remnants of 3 other mines.
The best time for scuba diving in Slovenia is from May to September, when alpine lakes are accessible and water temperatures are at their warmest, typically 12–22°C depending on depth. Summer offers the most comfortable conditions, while spring and autumn can provide excellent visibility. Cave diving is possible year-round but requires advanced training and proper equipment.
