Located on the island of Mindoro, Puerto Galera is known for its long stretch of beautiful white sand beaches. If you are looking for a relaxing diving trip while enjoying beach time, a variety of dining opportunities and sophisticated tourist facilities, Puerto Galera is the perfect destination.
Underwater Puerto Galera offers vibrant coral reefs that are colorful and teeming with marine life. Puerto Galera offers something for the most adventurous diver. Schools of reef fish, including jacks, snappers, mullets, triggerfish, groupers, trevally, drummers and barracudas, provide a striking contrast to the vibrant coral reefs and passing reef sharks.
Turtles, moray eels, cephalopods, and large crustaceans are abundant.
Good visibility, large and small wrecks, and strong currents in the canyons (and outer islands) provide a variety of diving experiences.
The major dive sites are basically within a 5-10 minute boat ride, which is very convenient. You can go ashore and rest as you wish after each dive.
The main point of entry to Puerto Galera is through Manila. There is a seaplane option from Manila to Puerto Galera Bay. Alternatively (and more affordable) you can take a taxi or bus from the airport to the Batangas Pier - ask about toll roads or highways to determine the quickest route.
If you choose to rent a car, drive through the South Luzon Expressway, turn right to the Star Toll Gate, and head to the Batangas Pier. From there, you can park your car and take the ferry to Puerto Galera, or have your car take a RoRo (roll-on, roll-off) and take it with you.
