Our PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre is on the idyllic Gaya Island, just 10 minutes by boat from Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, Malaysia.

The dive centre is right on the beach, surrounded by dense, tropical rainforest, from where we offer adventures both below the water’s surface and above. Min. certification: Open Water Certification required

You must complete a medical form and any positive (YES) answers require a doctors assessment and signature for dive fitness. You must complete a PADI standard liability forms at the mainland departure jetty and dive centre. Parent or guardian must sign for participants under 18 years of age. After scuba diving, current PADI Flying After Diving guidelines state that you should not go to altitude (this includes flying and climbing) within 18 hours when completing multiple scuba dives.

What to expect

This course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives. You try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. You log dives and develop capabilities as you find new ways to have fun scuba diving. You’ll plan your learning path with your instructor by choosing from a long list of Adventure Dives. There are two required dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three, for a total of five dives. During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time. The other knowledge and skills you get vary with your interest and the adventures you have – photography, buoyancy control, fish identification, exploring wrecks and many more.

How to get there

Our colleague will be waiting at the Waiting Hut, Sutera Marina Jetty latest by 0730 hrs. He will be wearing a Dive Downbelow T-shirt. This is the meeting point from where we guide you to our boat and whisk you away to our dive centre!
