DiveMania Scuba is a PADI 5 star Instructor Development Centre serving your PADI scuba diving training needs. We offer the full range of PADI scuba diving courses from beginner to pro.

Our classroom facility and store is in Romford. We run weekly pool sessions on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons at Impulse Leisure, Blackshots Lane, Grays, RM16 2JU.

We are proud to be able to deliver all of your PADI scuba diving training needs from beginner to pro and are proud to have our own resident PADI Course Director. We are an active dive club with regular open water training weekends, UK and foreign trips.

Our passionate, friendly, helpful and award winning staff strive to make a difference to your scuba education experience. For all of us at DiveMania Scuba, teaching people to dive is something we all do because we want to. We are privileged to be able to help people progress on their incredible scuba adventures from beginner to the top of the recreational ladder - Master Scuba Diver or go pro - Divemaster and beyond.

All of our courses are competitively priced and we will not be beaten. We believe in full transparency ad all courses include required PADI materials and tuition. PADI Pro course application fees are not included.

No prior experience with scuba diving is required. You must be in good physical health and be able to float for 10 minutes and swim 200m unaided and without stopping. Students will need to complete a self-assessment medical form at start of course

What to expect

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases. The first is Knowledge Development, which covers everything you need to know about basic techniques, terminology and safety procedures in scuba diving. The second is Confined Water Dives, which are training sessions conducted in a pool or water with pool-like conditions. They give you the opportunity to get used to the gear you'll be using and practice the basic skills of diving and techniques to keep you safe. The third is your Open Water Dives. This is what it's all about - you'll make your first dives in the ocean! During four dives, you'll perform various skills under water and on the surface to make sure you're a safe and competent diver. The training portion usually only takes up the first part of the dive, meaning that you will get to spend a big part of your time diving with your instructor and exploring the underwater world. As soon as your open water training dives are approved by your instructor you will be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver! This means you will be allowed to rent diving equipment and dive anywhere in the world down to 18 meters, lifelong!

Meet at the dive center

On arrival at the dive centre you'll be met in reception by one of our friendly staff and taken to our classroom for a course orientation. You'll then usually get straight into the pool after a short theory overview for your first time underwater! We then schedule subsequent sessions based around availability and working towards one of our planned Open Water qualifying weekends.
