PADI 5 Star Dive Center

Divewise, recognized as one of the pioneering dive centers in Malta, has continuously adapted to stay ahead in the realm of diving services.

With a family-oriented approach, the dive center offers courses for all levels, starting daily, from first-time divers to Divemaster programs. Instructor courses are available three times a year. The dive center encourages all open water divers and continuing education divers to become enriched air divers, providing recreational enriched air free of charge. The experienced multilingual team features a balanced mix of female and male instructors, showcasing the dive center's commitment to diversity and excellence.

Divewise has its own house reef for dives and two pools for training right on site. All the main hot spot dive sites are only 35 minutes away, offering great diving in clear, blue, warm water with excellent wrecks suitable for all levels and abundant marine life. Divewise welcomes visitors and is happy to arrange dive packages.

What to expect

What You Learn

As a PADI Rescue Diver you will learn:

  • Self rescue
  • Recognising and managing stress in other divers
  • Emergency management and equipment Rescuing panicked divers
  • Rescuing unresponsive divers

What do I need to start?

  • An Open Water Diver certification! You can enrol in the Rescue Diver Course as soon as you are a certified Open Water Diver (or have a qualifying certification from another training organisation) and participate in the Rescue Diver knowledge development and rescue training sessions, in confined water only, while working on your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
  • To participate in the PADI Rescue Diver course training sessions in open water, and to participate in the open water rescue scenarios.
  • You must be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organisation.
  • Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver)
  • Medically fit for the experience, complete our Medical Form
  • Certified in a CPR programme within the past 24 months. (The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses meet these requirements.)

What will I do?

Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. During the course you will cover:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems
  • Dive first aid
  • Swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Panicked diver response
  • Underwater problems
  • Missing diver procedures
  • Surfacing the unconscious diver
  • In-water rescue breathing protocols
  • Egress (exits)
  • First aid procedures for pressure related accidents
  • Dive accident scenarios

How long will it take?

As little as three days. The initial training is completed in a swimming pool then it’s into open water for one day for the scenarios.

What will I need?

We supply all materials as part of the course. These will include: PADI Rescue Diver Crew-Pak, any equipment needed for any pool training and the open water dives. Students are expected to own basic equipment (mask, fins, snorkel, boots and gloves) although these are available to hire.

Where can I go from here?

The PADI Rescue Diver certification is a prerequisite for all Professional level PADI courses, beginning with the a PADI Divemaster certification.
