The rescue is demanding both physically and mentally yet is equally fun and rewarding! It will prepare you to recognize, avoid and deal with emergencies both on the surface and below.
Three full days with your Instructor and assistant/classmates.
It starts with a day in the classroom; watching videos, filling in the PADI manual and theory discussions.
On the second day it is time to
get in the water at a local beach! Your will practice dealing with various emergencies
including panicking, missing and non breathing diver. The skills will include
bringing an unconscious diver up from a dive, giving rescue breaths on the surface,
exiting the victim from the water and much more. All whilst maintaining clear and rational
thinking; remember to always Stop, Think, Act!
On the last day your Instructor
will use other divers and bystanders to set up two roleplay emergency
scenarios. And you will be the star of the show - it is your job to make a rescue
plan and then follow it through.
At some point during the course
there will be a theory exam and time to create an Emergency Assistance plan.
