Haliotis - Sesimbra Diving Center

Sesimbra is probably the most popular diving location in Portugal. Because of its orientation it is possible to dive all year arround. In Haliotis Dive Center you have male and female changing rooms, classroom, store and filling station. You can also find the biggest boat operating in Sesimbra, our Homarus with 12 meters.

Sesimbra is a pleasant fishing village, just located at 30km from Lisbon being protected by the Natural Park of Arrábida and its wonderful waters are part of the biggest Portuguese Marine Reserve: Luiz Saldanha Marine Park (where the majoraty of the dives are made).

The diversity of the sea life allows us to see a lot of species at different depths. At the moment more than 1100 of species of marine macro-organisms are known.

No prior experience with scuba diving is required. You must be in good physical health and be able to float for 10 minutes and swim 200 m unaided and without stopping.

What to expect

The PADI Open Water Diver course consist of three main phases:

• Knowledge development (5 theoretical modules carried out through eLearning).

• Confined water dives to learn basic scuba skills (5 modules in our pool, which will be grouped into a single or double session according to the logistics).

• Open water dives to practice the skills and explore different dive sites (4 dives in the sea in Sesimbra, carried out over two days).

Our mission is to make you an excellent scuba diver!

As soon as your open water training dives are approved by your instructor you will be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver! This means you will be allowed to rent diving equipment and dive anywhere in the world down to 18 meters, lifelong!
