Highlights

Advance your diving skills! After having taken this course, you will be allowed to dive down to 30 metres/100 feet and will have learnt invaluable skills such as underwater navigation. Includes 5 adventure dives. You'll complete your theory online before you travel.

Make five dives with an instructor and practice something different on each dive (deep diving, navigation, buoyancy, photography, etc.).

Haliotis Madeira is a PADI Dive Center located at Hotel Dom Pedro Baía in Machico, 5 minutes away from the airport.

Madeira is known as the "Pearl of the Atlantic" due to its amazing climate that allows scuba diving all year around! The archipelago of Madeira consists of Madeira island; Porto Santo island (Golden Island) 90 km NE of Funchal; Desertas Islands (where the only colony of monk seals in Portuguese territory lives. During some dives you may be lucky enough to encounter them ) and the Selvagens Islands.

The water temperature varies between 17ºC and 22ºC and the visibility between 10 and 25 meters.

It is recommended a 5mm suit in the high season, from June to October, and a 7mm suit in the low season, from November to May.

What to expect

This advanced course consist of two main phases:

• Knowledge development (5 theoretical modules related to the adventure dives you'll undertake and 1 theoretical module on "Thinking like a diver" carried out through eLearning).

• Open water dives where you will do 5 dives in the sea in the Pearl of the Atlantic (Madeira). Two of the adventure dives are mandatory: deep dive and underwater navigation dive. Then you can choose 3 more different adventure dives like: wreck diving, search and recovery, peak performance buoyancy, fish identification among others.
