What to expect

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the most popular and widely recognized entry-level scuba diving certification. It's designed to provide beginners with the knowledge and skills needed to safely explore the underwater world. Here's what you can expect from the course:

  1. Knowledge Development: You'll start with self-study using the PADI  eLearning materials. The course covers diving principles, equipment, safety, and environmental awareness.

  2. Confined Water Training: You'll participate in confined water sessions to practice essential scuba diving skills. These sessions will teach you how to use scuba equipment, maintain buoyancy, clear your mask, and more.

  3. Open Water Dives: You'll complete a series of 4 open water dives, under the supervision of a certified PADI instructor. These dives take place on the beautiful reefs found in the waters around Coron.  During these dives, you'll apply the skills you learned in confined water, explore underwater environments, and become familiar with dive planning and safety procedures.

  4. Skill Assessment: You'll be evaluated on your ability to perform key scuba diving skills. These skills include mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, and emergency procedures. Your instructor will guide and assess your progress throughout the course.

  5. Dive Planning: You'll learn how to plan dives, including factors like depth, time, air consumption, and safety measures.

  6. Equipment Familiarity: The course will teach you how to assemble, disassemble, and care for scuba diving equipment. You'll gain a good understanding of how to select the right gear for different dive conditions.

  7. Certification: Upon successfully completing all the course requirements, you will receive your PADI Open Water Diver certification card. This certification allows you to dive independently with a buddy, rent scuba equipment, and explore underwater environments around the world.

  8. Adventure and Fun: Beyond the essential training, you can expect to have an exciting and enjoyable experience. Scuba diving opens up a new world of adventure and exploration, and the course is often a lot of fun.
