We are a PADI Dive Centre located in Cotton Tree, Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast Queensland offering SCUBA and FREEDIVING activities and PADI Courses. Here its a beautiful coastal area of the Sunshine Coast. We offer some of the best diving, equipment and training in the region. As a PADI dive store, we offer a wide range of PADI courses, including learn to dive programs, advanced training, and specialty courses plus a range of Freediving courses, pool training and depth training sessions. Our state-of-the-art training room and e-learning station provide the perfect environment for students to learn at their own pace and convenience.

 

In addition to our training programs, we also offer dive equipment rental and sales, ensuring that our customers have access to the latest and best dive gear on the market. Our service center is staffed by trained technicians who can assist with any equipment repairs or maintenance needs.

 

At our dive shop, safety is our top priority. We provide our customers with a safe and comfortable environment to learn and dive in, and we ensure that all of our equipment is regularly serviced and maintained to the highest standards.

Requirements

About

While diving with a buddy is the norm, there are plenty of reasons for an experienced diver to develop self-reliance and independence while diving. Learning how to dive without a partner and compensate for situations you’d normally handle with a buddy can make you a stronger diver in most dive situations.

With proper training, equipment and the right attitude to accept the risks involved in independent diving, an experience diver can responsibly engage in dives without a buddy. Self-reliant diving is an adventure activity that is not for everyone, but does have its place. If you have the mental discipline and commitment to learn and follow self-reliant diving techniques, you’ll bolster your skills and confidence when diving alone, in a dive pair or as part of a team.

To take this course you’ll need to be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver who is at least 18 years old, with 100 logged dives. You will also complete a skills assessment with your PADI Self-Reliant Diver Instructor before getting started.

What to expect

This specialty course takes place as a one-day, small group course aboard our vessel Argus II. During three self-reliant training dives, you’ll practice:

  • Performing an air consumption rate swim to gather information for later calculation.
  • Switching to a redundant air supply system during simulated emergency situations.
  • Swimming without a mask.
  • Navigating and using a DSMB (Delayed Surface Marker Buoy)
