Requirements

  • Minimum age: 10+
  • Min. certification: None
  • Min logged dives: None
  • Please note, diving does require some bit of physical health. Prior to participating in a PADI Course, you will need to fill out a medical questionnaire. All answers should be “no”, and any “yes” answers will require physicians clearance obtained at least one day prior to your arrival date. Ask the Dive Center for the digital form.

What to expect

If you want to become a certified diver, the PADI Open Water Diver is perfect for you. 

The PADI Open Water certification is your first autonomous scuba certification level, which means that you don’t need the supervision of a dive professional and can go on your own adventures with your favourite dive buddy.

This level will open up many dive sites for you to explore and have fun!

With us at Roatan Divers this is a 3-day course that is divided into 3 parts:

  • Knowledge Development: you will begin by completing the PADI eLearning from the comfort of your home without wasting time with classroom presentations during your vacation. 
  • Confined Water: in your first day with us you will complete the confined water dives with your instructor.
  • Open Water: afterwards, you will get on board one of our boats to do 4 open water dives around the stunning reefs of Roatan with your instructor.


This course will allow you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters / 60 feet.

The Open Water Diver course is all about learning the basics of scuba diving. Our boutique dive center offers the perfect learning environment for you by offering small groups to focus on your individual needs, premium service with equipment setup, tank changeovers and gear handling, the best boats and state-of-the-art dive gear.

Meet at the dive center

Divers staying in West End are all within walking distance of the Shop. However, for our divers staying towards West Bay we offer boat transportation for $5 per person per trip (subject to staff and dock availabilities). Please contact us ahead of time to schedule and confirm any pick up arrangements.
