Dive center

San Andres Divers

PADI 5 Star Dive Center

San Andres Divers is a PADI Dive Resort offering easy access to the Caribbean's pristine clear waters, turtles, rays and more...

The center is located on the waterfront, with two fast boats moored nearby. Access over 40 dive sites with ease on daily two or three tank dive trips. Head out for a morning of diving before returning to the hostel for a siesta, or stay out for a leisurely lunch at the Cove Restaurant and a third dive!

Dive sites in San Andres are as varied as they are tropical. Get geared up for walls, currents, calm coral reefs, underwater statues and wrecks. Visibility is 80+ meters and the average water temperatures hover around 85F (29°c) throughout the year.

San Andres is a relaxed, friendly dive center where you can muck in, meet new friends and explore the lesser-known underwater world of San Andres. The team work closely with local eco organizations and Miss Earth Colombia to create awareness and carry out beach and reef clean ups. If you want to get involved - just ask!

What to expect

The PADI Open Water Diver [Referral] course consists of three main phases: 1) Knowledge development: you will complete this at your leisure at home alongside your local dive center, using either PADI's eLearning system or on-site at their premises. This will cover everything you need to know about basic techniques, terminology and safety procedures in scuba diving. For each concept, you read the explanations and watch the demonstration on a video. You'll get the support of your local PADI Instructor either in-person or via telephone or email through the eLearning system. 2) Confined water dives: these are training sessions conducted in a pool or water with pool-like conditions. You’ll learn and practice the basic skills of diving as well as techniques to keep you safe and you’ll run though how to deal with a range of emergency situations should they occur. The sessions in the swimming pool are a lot of fun and give the opportunity to get familiar with the gear and techniques in a safe environment. With the Referral course, you will enjoy your confined water dives with your local dive center before traveling to your destination. 3) Open water dives: This is what it’s all about – making your first dives in the ocean! During the four open water dives, you will perform various dive skills both under water and at the surface to make sure that you are a competent and safe diver. The training portion usually only takes up the first part of the dive, meaning that you will get to spend a big part of your time diving with your instructor and exploring the underwater world. As soon as your open water training dives are approved by your instructor you will be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver! This means you will be allowed to rent diving equipment and dive anywhere in the world down to 18 meters, lifelong!
