Discover Scuba Diving is a fun, safe, and easy way for people with no prior scuba diving experience to try diving for the first time under the direct supervision of a certified PADI Professional.
Before the Dive:
1. Briefing (20–30 mins)
Introduction to basic scuba gear (mask, fins, regulator, BCD, tank).
Overview of safety rules and hand signals.
Basic theory: how pressure affects your body, equalization techniques, and how to breathe underwater.
2. Paperwork
You’ll fill out a medical questionnaire and some liability forms.
If you have certain medical conditions (like asthma, recent surgeries, or heart issues), you may need a doctor's clearance before diving.
In the Water:
3. Confined Water Skills Practice
Usually done in a pool or shallow, calm water:
Breathing through the regulator
Clearing your mask and regulator underwater
Equalizing your ears
Basic buoyancy control
4. Open Water Dive (Optional)
If you and your instructor feel comfortable, you'll go on a supervised dive up to 12 meters (40 feet) deep. This could be in the ocean, a lake, or another open water environment.
Supervision & Safety
You’re always under the direct supervision of a certified PADI Instructor or Divemaster.
You don’t need to be an expert swimmer, but you should be comfortable in the water.
How Long Does It Take?
The full DSD experience usually takes 2–3 hours.
After the Experience
If you choose to continue, your DSD experience may count toward the PADI Open Water Diver course (valid for up to a year).
