Smelly Place...
Smelly Place...
No TVs in the room, scary wiring, no staff on site. But when the check-out came they all wanted tips (LOL). I had to hunt someone down everyday for fresh towels, The entire apartment smelled of sewage for hours after the restroom was used, no exhaust in the toilet room. I would NOT recommend this place for the price we paid. There are much better options close by.

Dive Eat and sleep!
Dive Eat and sleep!
We loved this place , we were there to make the diving the apartment is top , clean. The plus +++++ is the local dive just below where we could leave our equipment and take our blocks unlimited to dive whenever we wanted.

Calling me back to find the Seahorses!
Calling me back to find the Seahorses!
We had booked a much needed two week dive trip through Cindy at the main office. She was so wonderful to work with and communicated quickly despite my email reception issues. I must admit I'm afraid I won't be able to book in again with a great review but hopefully we time our trips and find a vacancy. Our experience here was stellar. It is the perfect set up for people that want convenience diving and don't have to worry about anything. I am usually coordinating everything but the package available online made for one stop shopping and I could relax before I even started my vacation. We loved everything about the apartment and the experience. We have been fortunate and travelled the world but I must admit, for relaxation purposes, this wonderful place enabled us to decompress after years of renovations. We came to dive and dive and sleep. We were successful. We booked 5 boat dive/10day shore dive package. It is great value and we had the junior apartment during our stay with a fabulous balcony that overlooked Kalki Beach. On arrival, a lovely couple was waiting for us and 2 other couples and they transferred us to the apartment in short order but first they made a stop at a smaller grocery store so we could pick up a few supplies. Be sure and get the plantain chips to try...they are the best I've ever had. The truck we received with our rental was new and we were so afraid of getting sand in it but the staff at the apartments told us not to worry and a quick shake of the mats after the two weeks took care of the sand. We made a quick trip into Centrum grocery on our first day and took our gear down to the dive shop. The island is beautiful to traverse. The key had no electronics so it tucked into the BCD jacket quite nicely. We experience no theft and many of the beaches we went to had security guards but we didn't tempt fate and left nothing of value in the car. The bed was so comfortable, even the pillows were good but I always take mine with me just in case. There were two closets to hold your clothes and one contained the safe. The air conditioning units worked well and we were mindful to turn them off when out. The kitchen has everything you need to make a good meal. There are BBQ's on site for you to use. It is charcoal so you have to start cooking before you are hungry! Slow cooking at it's best and it was so delicious. We used the oven once to cook some pumpkin for soup and it worked well. I like to cook so we can spend more money diving! The kitchen had everything I needed to cook a decent meal. One thing about the island is good European cheese is imported and fairly reasonable. We purchased fresh milk once but it spoiled very quickly so used the powdered milk we brought with us. There are many restaurants around this apartment that are quite reasonable but we were pretty tuckered out after 3-4 dives. Since everything is imported groceries can be a little pricier than at home. we took some our our favourite foods with us. Alcohol is expensive but we don't drink much when we dive and we eat a mostly plant based diet but meat seemed comparable to prices in Canada for hamburger. One couple we met in the studios had frozen and brought meat to BBQ. Safe to say, no one goes hungry. The dive site directly in front of the apartments is an adventure dive. It is accessed by a long flight of stairs that looks quite daunting but are manageable. Just go slowly and take a break. There are wonderful turtles that don't mind you sitting around watching them. They are quite cheeky. and a little chubby. Funky statues are hidden around 30 ft along the reef waiting to be discovered and the fish population is very rich. The divers we encountered had great buoyancy skills and were respectful of the reef. There are cruise ship people but we never found this an inconvenience trying to access the beach or while sitting on our balcony. Many of our other dive locations like Cozumel and Grand Turk welcome cruisers and they just borrow the beach for the day, we get to stay to enjoy the magnificent sunsets and they are plentiful from our balcony. We noted many cruisers go to the area by the pier where there were table and sitting area. Not many people chose to sit right in front of the apartments. You will hear the buses revving and joyful chatter but we never found it to be 'too much'. There is a large, locked storage room on the main floor to store/rinse your wet gear between dives. There were always plenty of tanks on hand to enable the guests to take 4-6 with them for longer dive days at different locations. We like to take our rest intervals at the different beaches but the apartments are a relatively quick dive to some of the coolest dive sites. You can back your truck right up to the room to load the tanks: they've thought of everything. You must visit the dive shop down the road to get your weights and they are a friendly group of people. If you have time, do take a few boat dives to see some pretty pristine sites. The apartments were easy to maintain, a broom is provided for sweeping up the inevitable sand that clings to you (what a wonderful problem to have). The balcony in the junior apartment was generously sized and there were two well maintained lounge chairs and table with 4 chairs. The apartment furniture was well maintained and tastefully decorated. The sun sets right in your face so it can get quite toasty and you may have to retreat inside to cool off or run down the stairs, jump in and take a dip off the beach. There is no TV and no microwave so you are forced to relax and unplug....what torture. LOL! Full service grocery stores are anywhere from 20-35 mins away. The roads are great but you must be mindful of the speed bumps as you go through small business areas. Our phone plans worked there most of the time so we were able to use WAZE to navigate. There are many, many roundabouts so it helps if the passenger navigates to assist the driver. We found it to be a 2 person job. The transfer back was really convenient and didn't seem so long. We left earlier to accommodate the flight of a super nice couple who's flight left a wee bit earlier. We were glad because things at the airport with immigration are not the smoothest but for the size of the airport and the volume of people going through they do well. We experienced long line up and delays coming in as well, so you really need to be patient and remember paradise is just an airport challenge away. I cannot think of anything about this trip that I regret save the fact that people were finding these elusive sea horses and I did not despite my best and patient efforts but maybe that's what's calling me back! Well that and the fact that my shoulders finally relaxed back below my ears! Hope this gives you enough information to plan your trip to paradise. P.S. The pics online are accurate so I do not need to show you anything different!

Amazing view
Amazing view
A simple apartment with everything you need. Amazing veranda with an amazing view. The beach in front has, unfortunately, been discovered by cruise ship tours. When they are gone it’s peaceful and quiet. You can go snorkeling and scuba diving, all is there (except restaurants).

Spacious, clean and safe place to stay and we would not hesitate to stay here again.
Spacious, clean and safe place to stay and we would not hesitate to stay here again.
All West Apartments. As long as you are okay without adjacent night life and don’t have mobility issues, this is a great place to stay and we would not hesitate to stay again. Several of the beaches are within a 10 minute drive and the area and apartment feel very safe and secure. Prior to our arrival we received a link to good information, contacts for the facility and our shuttle driver contact info. The shuttle pick up was very smooth with the driver waiting for us at the airport when we arrived, with our names on a card. Roxy was onsite when we arrived at AllWest Apartments to check us into our unit and give us the rental vehicle. The process was quick and easy. Most days there were staff onsite, but we found them not to be friendly. They weren’t rude just not friendly. Pros - Quiet, safe, and secure area - Spacious, well equipped and clean unit - Safe in the room at no extra charge (uses a key) - All units are ocean view (we watched the turtles swimming every day) - Wifi was pretty good (we were without internet for 2.5 days of our 21 day stay due to some technical issues) - Plenty of parking space - Shower is good (though a small hot water tank so you can’t take long showers) - Hot water in the kitchen, which is not the case with all rentals - The view from the balcony is lovely with the turquoise water and turtles swimming - There are several restaurants within a short walking distance - Electricity is included in your rent (many places this is not the case) Cons - Not having good screens meant we had to use AC when we would have often just opened the windows - The blinds in the bedroom of unit D were useless at keeping light out - Day to day divers can’t benefit from the air tanks stored on site, which means back and forth to the dive shop - The fisherman at Playa Piscado that feeds fish carcasses to the turtles bangs a stick on the dock pretty much steady between 9 am and 3 pm and the carcasses are gross on the bottom of the ocean as well as smelly (this is where you snorkel / swim). - Snorkeling is not great and visibility on almost every day we were there was silty due to the surf - The coral beach is hard on your feet - Closest grocery store is in Barber a 15 minute drive away (a Toko) or Terra Cora which is about a 20 or so minute drive We spent 3 weeks in an apartment in All West Apartments in January 2025 and had a great stay. Our first night we were in Unit E which we really enjoyed. The remainder of the stay we were on the upper level in Unit D. Both units were spacious and well equipped. The area is very quiet and the units are very well sound proofed. The bedroom patio door screen had so many holes in it we could not open the doors in the evening due to no-see-ums and mosquitoes. The living room patio door did not have a screen. You are not permitted to smoke inside the units, yay, or in their vehicle if you rent from them. You can ask for clean towels / linens each week. If you want any cleaning during your stay the cost is $20 USA each time. We did not use this service. We rented our truck from AllWest and it was a very smooth process. In 3 weeks we used a tank and a half of diesel which cost 150 guilders to fill. This included multiple trips to Willemstad and checking out the beaches in the area on most days. We had trouble the first couple of days with a tire going low but then it seemed to resolve itself. The drivers window wouldn’t go up once opened. I eventually got it up and then simply didn’t open it again. AC in the truck worked well. Unit D is accessed from street level but you have to go up 18 stairs to get into the functional space. There is a bedroom with patio doors, a king bed, a safe, two end tables and a small round table with a chair. The double door closet is spacious with wire shelving and around 8 or so hangers. The patio door curtains are great at blocking out light. The two bedroom windows have white blinds on them and are useless at keeping out light. We hung our beach towels in the bedroom window to keep the room darker for sleeping. The living room / dining area had a hide abed, a table with four chairs. a sofa chair and coffee table. There is a huge walk in closet in the dining area with lots of wire shelves. We stored our suitcases there and set out all our diving / snorkeling gear on the shelves. There is an iron and ironing board. The bathroom is huge with double sinks and the vanity has two large drawers, one containing an organizer. The walk in shower is large offering a rain water shower nozzle. Two rolls of toilet paper and one set of travel sized soap, shampoo and conditioner was provided. Given that you are paying the same rental rate regardless of how long you rent a unit, it seemed odd not to be provided additional toilet paper. The kitchen has a full sized refrigerator containing a jug for water and two ice cube trays. There was a four burner gas stove with a small oven. You have to use matches or a lighter to start the burners, which were provided in the unit. Dishes included a large and small casserole dish (though the large dish did not have a lid), a six person serving of dinnerware, cups, glasses and wine glasses. There was a set of serving utensils, a vegetable peeler that was a total pain to use as the blade kept spinning the wrong way and a cutting board. There were multiple knives but they were all serrated and as dull as dull could be. There was no paring knife. There was a large and small non stick frying pan and a large stainless steel frying pan and a large, medium and small pot with lids. There was also a grater and a pasta strainer. The non-stick wok was very scratched so we did not use it. The kitchen has a 2 slice toaster and a coffee pot. Coffee filters and some sugar packets were in the apartment. There is plenty of dish soap, a broom and dustpan and a mop and pail. The room also had a few mosquito coils and placemats as well as a basin that we used for rinsing our feet. There is only one accessible electrical outlet in the kitchen. There is an air conditioner in the bedroom and the living room, both with remotes that kept the apartment very comfortable. The only time it was hot was when cooking meals as there is no AC in the kitchen, but there is a window. We were very comfortable in the apartment however if we were returning we would bring the following - A fly swatter as the flies were persistent every day and got in with the patio doors opening and closing - a foldable cooler bag - Containers or ziplock bags. If you leave any food out that is not sealed there will be a bunch of tiny ants inside very quickly - Our own knives and vegetable peeler - Rope for a extra makeshift clothes line - Clothes pins - A bit of cleaning detergent or Lysol wipes if you like to tidy your unit. The patio has a round table with four chairs with cushions, two lounging beds and an umbrella. However there is no way to affix the umbrella so we could not use it. We noticed the other units seemed to have a hook on the railing for the umbrella. Also on the patio is a small clothes line but you have to bring your own clothes pins. We brought extra cord and strung it across in order to fit everything that we needed to dry. If we were to return we definitely would not stay in the upper unit as it does not have access to the walk way that goes to the stairs to the beach. If access to the ocean is important then be sure to ask what unit you are reserving to know if you will have access or not. In unit D, you are isolated from the rest of the guests and ocean as you have to go out the stairs on to the street, walk to the diving room, unlock the room x 2 in order to access the walk way that takes you to the ocean. Extremely inconvenient. Or you go down stairs to the street and then walk over to the public stairs leading down to Playa Piskado. The water in front of the AllWest Apartment building is full of coral making it difficult to use the beach without water shoes. There are also lots of rocks at the entrance so combined with the constant surge / surf it can be difficult for people to get in and out of water. We found a decent spot for entering and exiting so had no issues but were highly entertained watching others trying to do so. That said it is quite awkward to enter and exit the water if you have your diving equipment / tanks on. We really appreciated how well lit the ocean side of the building was at night. Please note that unless you are taking the unlimited dive package with AllWest Diving there is no benefit in staying in the AllWest apartments. If you are diving day to day you have to go to the dive shop each day you want to dive which is about a 15 minute walk to pick up your weights and tanks. The weights and tanks have to be returned to the dive shop before they close at 5 pm or you will be charged for additional day(s) until the weights are returned. The reality is with having to go to and from the dive shop it is easier to simply rent the tanks wherever you are going to shore dive.
