On the 4-acre Clark's Cay, off the coast of Guanaja, which is off the coast of Honduras, social distancing comes naturally. Avoiding crowds comes easy as well since we only accommodate 20 people at any one time. And all of the cabanas and suites have a separate outdoor entrance, and more than ample air circulation options with air-conditioning, ceiling fans and windows. Nearly all of our public spaces are also open to fresh air.During the months we have been closed, we have studied the many operational protocols suggested for the "new normal" for the hospitality industry, and have trained our staff to ensure that they deliver a safe experience for our guests and themselves. The Global Safety Stamp of Approval on the right signifies we have adopted the health and hygiene global standardized protocols outlined by the World Travel & Tourism Council. Please note that while the protocols take into account the current World Health Organization and CDC guidelines, they are living documents that we will update as new information becomes available about COVID-19. Below are some of the measures we will be taking once we reopen, and we will continually update these: RESORT - Public areas will be cleaned and sanitized regularly. We will increase the sanitizing of all high-touch areas, such as front desk, handrails, doorknobs, bathrooms. - We will provide sanitizing stations throughout the resort. Guests can request face coverings or bring their own. - All back of house areas will be cleaned and sanitized regularly, including storage areas, laundry room, and staff accommodations. - Guest rooms will maintain a consistent cleaning schedule or limited at guests’ request. All surfaces in the guest rooms will be sanitized daily, including doorknobs, towel racks, and furniture - Staff temperatures will be checked daily, prior to starting work, and will be required to wear face coverings, wash hands, and sanitize regularly. FOOD AND BEVERAGE - We are extending meal hours and are providing additional spacing between tables to adhere to Social Distancing requirements. - All staff will be trained in CDC, NRA, and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. - We require all staff to wear face coverings at all times. - All kitchen and dining areas will be cleaned and sanitized after each meal. DIVE BOAT - Divers will be spaced farther apart on boat - Reduced Diver Capacity on Boats - Community mask bucket will be removed - Hand Sanitizer will be available - Surface interval snacks will be served or individually wrapped - High use areas will be sanitized throughout the trip GEAR RINSE - All Regulators, Mask, Snorkels and BCD Inflators will be sanitized according to CDC Guidelines - Guest will be given new mouthpieces with each Rental Regulator

Explore diving around the Cabanas on Clark's Cay

Dive Center

  • Explore the local protected marine reserve, part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef
  • Diving in Guanaja offers a great deal of variety - pinnacles, walls, shallow coral reefs and wrecks
  • Experience a dive concierge service - leave the lifting, hauling and packing to the dive team
  • Guanaja’s fringing reef is an ideal spot snorkelers as well as divers
  • Boat rides vary from 20 – 30 minutes for dives along the south to up to 45 minutes for dives along the northern coast
  • There are 50+ named Guanaja dive sites, another 6 or so “kept secret” by the Clark’s Cay dive staff for their guests only

Enjoy uncrowded diving on some of the most virgin reefs in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System.

With few dive operators on the island, guests always get their pick of the best, rarely visited dive sites. Concierge dive services guarantee a relaxed experience on each of the three daily dives.

The friendly and professional staff pride themselves on not just being your guides but your dive concierges, so please plan on leaving the lifting, hauling and packing of all the diving gear to them!

The team will carry your gear onto the boats, prepare it for the dive, change it over for the second dive, and rinse and store it at the end of the day. Your only task while on board is to do your buddy checks, then sit back and enjoy the ride.

Resort Description

Cabanas on Clark’s Cay offers remote island escapism combined with the best elements of a resort holiday - a beautiful infinity pool, lazy river and culinary delights!

This 4-acre private island resort offers beautiful views of the Caribbean sea from all directions. It really is a great choice for relaxed divers who seek stunning scenery and coral reefs with turtles, colorful nudibranchs and more. Just off shore Guanaja, this is the least discovered of the three main Bay Islands; Roatan, Utila and Guanaja. That means preferential access to the most pristine dive sites in the area. Expect dives featuring pinnacles, walls and the wreck of the Jado Trader.

The resort itself offers all-inclusive luxury, island style. Step foot on the island and forget about the stresses of the modern world. At Cabanas on Clark's Cay, there is a swimming pool, outdoor 'shower trees', a Jacuzzi tub and a lazy river. Food enthusiasts will love the varied, fresh and locally-inspired meals. The restaurant and bar is open-air and (in addition to fresh seafood, cocktails and 'local' style tortillas) serves up pizzas fresh from the oven.
