Explore diving around the Cabanas on Clark's Cay

Dive Center

Highlights

  • Explore the local protected marine reserve, part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef
  • Diving in Guanaja offers a great deal of variety - pinnacles, walls, shallow coral reefs and wrecks
  • Experience a dive concierge service - leave the lifting, hauling and packing to the dive team
  • Guanaja’s fringing reef is an ideal spot snorkelers as well as divers
  • Boat rides vary from 20 – 30 minutes for dives along the south to up to 45 minutes for dives along the northern coast
  • There are 50+ named Guanaja dive sites, another 6 or so “kept secret” by the Clark’s Cay dive staff for their guests only

Description

Enjoy uncrowded diving on some of the most virgin reefs in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System.

With few dive operators on the island, guests always get their pick of the best, rarely visited dive sites. Concierge dive services guarantee a relaxed experience on each of the three daily dives.

The friendly and professional staff pride themselves on not just being your guides but your dive concierges, so please plan on leaving the lifting, hauling and packing of all the diving gear to them!

The team will carry your gear onto the boats, prepare it for the dive, change it over for the second dive, and rinse and store it at the end of the day. Your only task while on board is to do your buddy checks, then sit back and enjoy the ride.

Resort Description

Cabanas on Clark’s Cay offers remote island escapism combined with the best elements of a resort holiday - a beautiful infinity pool, lazy river and culinary delights!

This 4-acre private island resort offers beautiful views of the Caribbean sea from all directions. It really is a great choice for relaxed divers who seek stunning scenery and coral reefs with turtles, colorful nudibranchs and more. Just off shore Guanaja, this is the least discovered of the three main Bay Islands; Roatan, Utila and Guanaja. That means preferential access to the most pristine dive sites in the area. Expect dives featuring pinnacles, walls and the wreck of the Jado Trader.

The resort itself offers all-inclusive luxury, island style. Step foot on the island and forget about the stresses of the modern world. At Cabanas on Clark's Cay, there is a swimming pool, outdoor 'shower trees', a Jacuzzi tub and a lazy river. Food enthusiasts will love the varied, fresh and locally-inspired meals. The restaurant and bar is open-air and (in addition to fresh seafood, cocktails and 'local' style tortillas) serves up pizzas fresh from the oven.

How to get there

Arrival:

Getting to Roatan: Direct flights operate from Miami, Atlanta, and Houston into Roatan, subject to change. Please ensure your incoming flight arrives in Roatan no later than 2:00 pm. Your departing flight out of Roatan should be booked to depart after twelve noon.

Arriving in Roatan: Upon arrival into Roatan, you will first clear immigration. The next stop is the baggage carousels, where you will grab your bags. Depending upon the airport rules in effect when you arrive, a baggage handler named Oliver (or, in his absence, Orlando) will be near the carousel or at the end of the baggage x-ray machine belt. Guests can feel comfortable utilizing the baggage handler's trustworthy services, and tipping them will be greatly appreciated. Oliver or his alternate will be looking for Cabanas on Clark's Cay luggage tags that will be mailed to you, so please use those on all your checked luggage.

He/they will help you with your luggage and get you checked in to your onward flight if flying to Guanaja or assist you in finding your transfer company if you are taking the Ferry to Guanaja. If taking the Ferry, your transfer driver should be waiting for you right outside the glass doors as you exit baggage claim, holding a sign with the Cabanas on Clark's Cay logo.

FERRY

• Ferry Reservations: Reservations for the ferry from Roatan to Guanaja and transfers to the Ferry Terminal must be made in advance to pre-arrange transfers from the airport. The fare is currently $170.00 per person, round trip, subject to change. This fare will be prepaid along with your Resort package. Your transfer driver will take you directly to the ferry dock. The transfer package has not included gratuities, so tipping your transfer driver is appropriate.

CHARTER FLIGHTS

• There are no scheduled flights between Roatan and Guanaja. However, charter options are available for up to 3 people on a private single-engine plane or, for groups, charters on a CM Airlines twin-engine turboprop.

• If on a charter, the baggage handler will assist you in locating the pilot, who will look for you and the Cabanas on Clark's Cay luggage tags. You will then go through Security and depart the terminal with the pilot.

ARRIVING IN GUANAJA

• Cabanas on Clark's Cay representatives will greet you at the ferry dock or airport, collect your luggage, and lead you to the transfer boat. Once all luggage is accounted for, you will depart for the 10–15-minute ride to the Resort.

• Once docked at the Resort, you can leave all your luggage behind as the staff will deliver it to your room.

DEPARTING GUANAJA

• For the return trip by ferry, the staff will deliver you to the ferry dock around 8:00 am for the 8:30 departure to Roatan. The ferry will arrive in Roatan at approximately 10:00 am. Collect your luggage and proceed out of the terminal to locate your transfer company.

• If you have a charter flight, the flight will be scheduled to arrive in Roatan well before twelve noon.
