Barefoot Scuba Resort

Highly skilled dive masters and extremely professional PADI centre. Would recommend for anyone looking to certify in India. Boats and gear are clean and well maintained. Very helpful staff. The rooms are rustic but functional. More room to dry gear would be good.

Havelock is a small Andaman island in India but on the Indian scale, with 6500 inhabitants it does not even deserve to be considered as an inhabited area... It is rather a peaceful place, untouristy, with very few foreigners, rather Indians, and still very rural with multiple cultures in the land. Havelock is best known for its beaches: dreamy beaches as seen in the brochures, beautiful pristine sandy beaches, jungle in the background and the whole palette of blues for the sea.The best known is Radhanagar beach, beach n°5 is also beautiful. It’s when you’re at night on these deserted beaches that you get (almost) like Robinson Crusoe. The Barefoot Scuba diving club is located on beach 3, 2 km from the port.There are huts for 5 € per night for backpackers who are not afraid to sleep in an oven, cottages and bungalows overlooking the beach with sea views: the ones we chose. The bungalows are very comfortable, with a bedroom and a beautiful balcony upstairs and a living room with sofa, which can serve as a 3rd bed, a mini bar to keep drinks cool and a bathroom. Everything is air conditioned. Otherwise, with the heat wave with 43° felt that lasted the whole stay, it was uninhabitable. There is also a convenient coffee and tea service in the bungalow that allows for a first breakfast before heading out for an early morning dive. From the bungalow, we walk 50 m in the palm grove to access a superb coral sandy beach and 35° water!! For the rest, the resort has a restaurant, Café Del Mar, a few meters from the bungalows where you can have breakfast or a hearty and delicious local meal (about ten euros / pers). As the centre is on the way to the hotels, it is quite possible to go and eat elsewhere, sometimes even along the beach if you want to vary the pleasures. You can also drink beers and fresh fruit juices The resort is set back from the main road, so there is no risk of being disturbed by the noise of motorcycles or passing cars on the road. In the surrounding area there are many other restaurants if you want to vary the pleasures as well as a motorcycle rental at the hotel entrance. The huge advantage is that the resort has its diving club and so we only had to do 30 m to get from bed to our diving equipment. The dive center is well equipped, everything is provided for rinsing and storage of equipment; the compressor has been moved away to not bother anyone. There are 2 boats that can accommodate a dozen divers, with double the number of bottles since we make "2 tank dives". Important to know: Indian dives start early!!: departure of the boat at 6am... of course. The program was to do double dives starting at 6am, we were in the water around 6:45am, with wake-ups at 5h 1⁄4!! I hear they call it a vacation. The advantage of this formula is that by 11am, our diving day was over. So we were treated to a “late breakfast”, rather a brunch, which took us around noon. The management of the divemasters is very competent and the guides are perfectly familiar with the dive sites around the island. Barefoot scuba is the ideal place for those who want to dive on this island and discover uncrowded sites, in a great comfort and atmosphere very close to nature.

My first time experience was out of d world.They r very professional n systematic. I was quiet nervous in d beginning my trained Zobin comforted me n made sure I completed my first dive ..it is a amazing experience to go into a totally different, beautiful n colorful world under d see.I did it with my son so was very concerned. But Sada cleared all my doubts patiently.My son was way comfortable than me n both of us enjoyed our first dive.i am definitely gonna come to Havelock again n dive again Thanks

Best dive resort ever! Why? Because: - great and experienced crew - good accomodations. Try the duplex rooms! - nice divesites - the diveguides enthusiasm! - Good authentic food! Don’t hesitate to book there!

Really professionally organised snorkeling trip to 2 sites with Matt leading. Everything was explained and managed really well and we all felt safe and had an incredible trip. All of the team were so friendly and went above and beyond. Highly recommended.
