A great day's diving with a delicious lunch and the bonus of a peaceful private bay
We were lucky enough to be the only people diving on the day we went, which made our day exceptional. We had an excellent guide 'Jam' and we were also joined by the owner of Down Below Adventures who took some lovely photos for us. The visibility wasn't fantastic but we saw a wide range of aquatic life and enjoyed all the dives we made. We really liked the set up of the dive school on its own little bay on Gaya Island. In between diving we could wander around the bay. We were given a delicious lunch. We were also ferried to and from our hotel on Gaya Island making the whole day a very enjoyable excursion. We felt in very safe hands. The booking and organisation was very easy and very straightforwards and communication on the evening before and the day of the dive was excellent.

I came to down below in 2019 to take my advanced open water course, and after many years of experiencing diving with different companies around the world and taking course with various dive shops, I knew down below was the best choice for my instructor development course & training. From their professionalism, platinum course directors, incredible location & facilities I knew I wanted to be taught by the best in the industry and Richard & his team are exactly that. I learned so much in my time here and had support throughout my whole training. Learning from professional mentors who have such passion for the ocean & the industry after so many years in the business is not only inspiring but also rewarding. The island itself is beautiful with stunning dive sites, great accommodation at their lodge making everything easy and hassle free when coming to stay with these guys! I couldn’t recommend them more and I’m so glad I decided to take my course here! Big love to the down below team 💙

Fantastic trip to Sipadan Kapalai resort
Booked a week at the Sipadan Kapalai Resort as a birthday treat to myself for a special birthday... the team at Downbelow made everything seemless and so unbelievably easy (as always). All I had to do was organise getting to the airport in Tawau, and everything else was taken care of as part of the booking. When I got there, everything was exactly as described, and the arrangements were executed exactly as advertised/promised. Although this was a specific trip, I have been diving with Downbelow 2-3 times per year at their Gaya Island facility for the last couple of years, and will continue to do so. The team there are always amazing, so welcoming and friendly, the arrangements and organisation is faultless, and the diving is excellent - the setup they have just makes everything so simple and relaxing, you don't have to think about anything, just turn up, relax and enjoy yourself. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending Downbelow to anyone, and have done so to several friends already.
