Travel Resources

Kindly be informed that the dining hall at Land Resort is closed. Therefore, all meals will be served at the Water Bungalow restaurant.

Guests can slowly walk from the land resort’s jetty and enjoy the view (distance is around 10 minutes) or can request a buggy to pick up, but the buggy will usually take some time. Normally it is every hour. You can wait at the buggy station. The team will inform you where it is located after you have checked in to the resort..

Once we receive your booking, we double check availability with the dive operator and reserve your spot

2. CONFIRMATION

We usually get back to you within 24 hours to confirm that your booking is final

3. 48H FREE CANCELLATION PERIOD

You then have 48 hours to take care of other travel arrangements. Your credit card will only be charged after that period

STANDARD CANCELLATION POLICY: if you cancel more than 22 days prior to your arrival date, you will lose 35% of your booking; if you cancel between 22 and 14 days, you will lose 55%; if you cancel between 14 and 8 days, you will lose 80%; you will lose 100% of your booking if you cancel 8 days or less prior to your arrival date.

Description

Smart Divers is a beachfront PADI Dive Resort on Mabul Island, 15 minutes' from Sipadan. 

All boat diving is from speedboats, with shaded seating, overhead shelves and a dry space for gear. For unlimited shore diving, simply hop off the end of the resort's jetty any time between 7am and 7pm. Between dives, the team will switch your tanks and after each dive your gear will be delivered to the dive shed where you can disassemble, rinse and store your gear.

This location is ideal for photographers and the boat team are available to assist you with large or multiple camera systems. Technical diving courses are available.  Come evening, lounge on the beachfront deck chairs until the last light has disappeared and then mosey up to the main house in anticipation of a great buffet meal which usually features a mixture of asian and western dishes.


NOTICE OF DIVING AT SIPADAN ISLAND – NEW RULES
(EFFECTIVE FROM 01 JANUARY 2023)

The total number of divers or visitors allowed to visit Sipadan Island is restricted to 254 people per day. 

The 1 day guaranteed trip is only applicable for divers who purchase the Sipadan package. (stay from 5 nights onward)

Each diver can only do 2 boat dives a day and must be a certified Advanced Open Water Diver.

Resort Description

Sipadan-Mabul Resort is a 4* dive resort on the beach, just a 15 minute speedboat ride away from Sipadan.

These wooden semi-detached bungalows come with air-conditioning, hot water showers and private verandas with stunning, tropical views. Each semi-detached suite is scattered through a coconut grove that slowly morphs into a sugar-white sand beach. Chill on your veranda and look out onto the ocean – it’s an ideal place to enjoy a cool beer and watch the sun set over the calm waves. 

The resort boasts a pool with a Jacuzzi whirlpool, surrounded by wooden decking and sun loungers. After a day's diving or snorkeling, you don't have to venture far for the delicious seafood and other cuisine served at the resort’s restaurant. 

Mabul and Sipadan offer some mind-blowing diving opportunities. Turtle-fanatics will marvel at the multiple large turtles found in Sipadan, alongside millions of schooling pelagics. Closer to Mabul you’ll discover 300+ species of corals and numerous macro creatures, including 11 rare nudibranch varieties.

How to get there

Arrival

  • The closest airport is Tawau Airport. From here, the resort will pick you up and take you to the resort (this service is complimentary but advance notice is required to confirm pick up and drop of details). 
  • From Tawau Airport, you will drive to Semporna Jetty where a speedboat will transport you the remainder of the journey to the resort's beach. 
  • The latest possible time of flight arrival into Tawau Airport is 3pm, in order to allow enough time to reach the ferry. If you arrive later than this, you will need to stay overnight in Tawau and take the ferry the following day. 
  • Check in time is 2pm. 

Departure

  • Check out time is 11.30 am
  • On your departure day, the resort will return you to Tawau Aiport, free of charge. Advance notice is required to ensure that the transport is available.
