Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru

This is an island full of enthusiasm. All the staff are friendly and considerate, the food is abundant and delicious, and the surrounding snorkeling environment is excellent.

On our 4 week trip through the Maldives, we saved this island for our graduation. Since we have been there several times and the island is easily accessible by speedboat, we thought that was a good thing. Unfortunately, we were bitterly disappointed. But one thing at a time: as already mentioned, we have been to this island before and could therefore be led directly to the bungalow after our arrival. Since we were not on this island for a year and there were some renewals (not only 1 restaurant, not only 1 bar, bungalows "refreshed" etc.), we got a short explanation about this. Among other things, it was said that in the menus a few (!) Food is not included in our menu (we had HP this time). OK, I figured. But when I held the menu in my hands for the first time in the evening, I found that with more than half of the dishes listed, starting with the appetizers and including dessert, I would even dare to say a good 70% still an amount had to be paid! And this NO MATTER WHAT MEAL PLAN YOU HAD BOOKED. So that also meant who had an AI had to pay........... You have to imagine that! Someone books an All Inclusive and then has to shell out any additional costs for the foodI find this outrageous to say the least! It would still be OK if per course 1 dish would cost an additional - but right away with sooo many???? No!! Likewise, no one was able to "visit" the normal buffet daily (because there one expected no additional costs except possibly with the drink). The this was only accessible to guests 2 or 3 times a week. Otherwise, you HAD to go to one of the other restaurants. THIS way, of course, you can quickly generate additional revenue........... I can't believe it. We really hadn't experienced anything like this on any island - and we've been to over 50 Maldives islands on holiday in the last 30 years. Other negative points: - the water heated by the sun in the bucket to wash the feet - here too there are definitely other solutions without the guest possibly scalding his feet. - also the jetty that leads from the bungaow to the sala gets extremely hot so you should put on shoes, i.e. flip-flops. Our first (and this time only) snorkeling trip around the island also made us very sad. Respectively we WANTED to snorkel around the island to admire the underwater world, which we already knew well from there. But how much we were surprised when the water became murkier and more opaque and you could hardly see your hand in front of your diving goggles. Why was that, or is it? As we unfortunately had to see, sand is being diligently piled up in various places around Banyan Tree, Baros and Ihuru to generate new islands. And what's the consequence? The house reefs nearby were dispatched, the fish disappeared etc. A real mourning game, really! We were therefore astonished when we had much better visibility the next day on the snorkeling trip to Ihuru ("sister island" of Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru) and could safely go on a snorkeling tour here. But there are also positive impressions to tell: The bungi itself was still as we knew it from earlier, simply that we now had a real small pool out back instead of the hot tub. Likewise, we loved that the island with the bungalows was not totally overgrown. And - no water bungalows that change the water flow were built. In addition, there was a small tagère in the bungalow with small treats (more sweet than savory) around 4pm. But I don't know if this was distributed in all bungis, because we had a bungalow on the sunset side, which you have to/can book specifically. Speaking of treats: the breakfast buffet really leaves nothing to be desired. Except maybe you want caviar? I don't know. But it was just great every day and the staff were really always there to fulfill every wish immediately. We were really excited. Besides - the sand on Banayan Tree is just great. Really powdery soft. And he never gets hot. Only imported sand gets hot. That's why walking in the sand, even over the hot lunchtime, is always pleasant. Nevertheless, these holidays on Vabbinfaru were our last. And definitely. What we had to experience underwater - just sad.

The hotel exceeded my expectations, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, the beach was beautiful, the reception staff were friendly and warm, especially my receptionist Chika and receptionist Fatima, thank you for your help and care. But the restaurant tastes average overall, something that was considered slightly lacking on this trip, and hopefully getting better.

The natural ecology of the whole island is really fantastic, the plants are lush and not very sun-drenched during the day, and at night they are full of flowers and smell very good, but not many mosquitoes. The seaside scenery naturally goes without saying, snorkelling outwards to the trench is very good, this time met by a fish storm and small sharks! The staff on the island were warm and friendly, Waheed was professional to help us coordinate matters and Jin was patient and meticulous! The room name assigned to me is the same as my little Red Book ID, which must be very fateful! There are so many places to say, and every one of them reveals the trustworthy quality of Banyan Tree. What a very satisfying trip!
