What to see

The Fuvahmulah Atoll's seven sharks – thresher, tiger, whale sharks, oceanic whitetip, silvertip, grey reef and hammerhead – are what makes this atoll's diving unique and some days you'll see them all in one dive! There's also an abundance of rays, from black oceanic mantas to mobula. The reefs around Fuvahmulah are unspoiled and are perfect for underwater photography.

Dive Center

  • Experience the thrill of guaranteed tiger shark encounters, and observe thresher sharks in the shallows of the cleaning stations at dusk
  • Take a break between dives to refuel at the cozy cafe on the harbor side, enjoying the ocean breeze under the shade of the trees
  • Lectures on different species of marine life and educational awareness programs are provided at the dive school, and it is one of the best places to get your Shark and Manta Specialties
  • Tick the ultimate set of sharks off your diving bucket list (sometimes in one dive!): tiger, thresher, hammerheads, silver tip, whale, grey reef and white tip

Fuvahmulah Dive School provides exclusive pelagic oceanic diving on the equator. The signature of Fuvahmulah is Tiger sharks diving on the shallow waters dive site Tiger Zoo.

All year round, this isolated island is surrounded by thousands of pelagic creatures - you can see 7 types of rare sharks in one dive. Scalloped hammerheads, thresher sharks, giant whale sharks, oceanic mantas, mola-mola, silver tip and grey reef sharks, schools of pelagic fishes, alive beautiful coral reef.

The dive school  is first professional diving facility in Fuvahmulah. Up until 2017, when Fuvahmulah Dive School started conducting underwater research, the beauty and secrets of this mysterious atoll were largely undiscovered. It has an excellent location in the harbor area, just in front of the market and cozy cafe, where you can have snacks/coffee/tea in between the dives and have a rest under the shade of the beautiful trees. It takes less than a minute to reach the diving boat.

Each dive includes a comprehensive briefing, a thorough explanation of pelagic and shark behavior, and full equipment assistance. The team are local islanders who are familiar with local weather and ocean conditions, and all the guides are qualified in Shark Specialty and are specially trained for Tiger Zoo.

Resort Description

Calyx Grand offers some of the largest rooms on the island, with queen-sized beds, deluxe wooden furnishings and floor to ceiling windows that fill the rooms with sunshine.

Fuvahmulah is a local Maldivian island, complete with a handful of guesthouses, a picturesque harbour and a whole load of awesome diving experiences just minutes from shore. Here, you'll have the chance to encounter Tiger Sharks anytime of the year!

For a more relaxed diving or snorkeling experience, cruse along the fringing reef that drops off into the abyss. In additional to the macro and reef fish usually expected from Maldivian reefs, there's an abundance of tropical benthos.

How to get there

  • The best airport to fly into is Malé, where you can then catch a flight to Fuvahmulah (advance notice required, additional cost).
  • Flight times often change, so we recommend you check the flight schedule here: http://www.maldivian.aero. Alternatively, you can fly into Gan via Colombo and from there catch a speed boat to Fuvahmulah (45 min).
  • Once at the Fuvahmulah jetty, the dive team will arrange to pick you up and drop you at the guesthouse (advance notice required, additional cost).
  • Check in time is 12 pm.

  • Check out time is 10 am.
  • On the final day of your stay, the dive team will drop you back at the jetty where you can catch a seaplane to Malé Airport.

Getting to/from the Dive Center

  • The dive center is a 30 minute walk from the guesthouse, though a paid transfer service is available on request.
