Komandoo Maldives Island Resort

Having stayed on many different Islands but with the same company we found that Komandoo was lovely. The staff in particular were excellent, very attentive helpful without being overwhelming. Mini in reception was very good as were our room man who's name I can't recall (the very energetic Maldives lead dancer/singer) and Asim our waiter. The Island was beautifully kept and the accommodation was good. The reef was very good but not quite as good as before the coral bleaching problems but it did seem to be recovering. The food was next level, only problem we couldn't eat it all and have had to spend weeks in the gym when we got home. A common theme with guests at dinner time was make sure you go and get a freshly baked naan from the tandoori man he was a star. The little extras like the small treats left in the rooms was a nice touch. Late afternoon cocktails in the swimming pool a must or as I sometimes preferred a pot of tea. The bar staff were very good at this. Thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days break and hope to return again soon. Might even bring our sons next time (not sure if Komandoo will be ready for that)

Our 4th visit here, and it won’t be the last. It has a great atmosphere, with mainly British and German/Austrian/Swiss guest, who have a pleasant disposition, and always say hello when passing. I’ve been to 7 Islands, some I’d go back to some not- it does depend on where the clientele are from- as there are islands with Russian or Eastern European guests, who have a more surly outlook, and for me do not make those Islands welcoming. Komandoo is not for them - The diving here is great, especially the scooter diving, for those of us with experience- and the staff throughout the Island have never been bettered on any other Island I’ve been too, from the General Manager, to the grounds staff- they are superb. I am almost reluctant to post this, the more people I tell, the more difficult it is to get a booking!,

From the moment we were greeted on the jetty by the lovely General Manager and the staff playing the drums when we arrived at reception our stay was incredible. If you have high expectations of the Maldives from the thousands of brochure photos, it absolutely lives up to this. We did arrive from another island in the Maldives which was equally as superb so our bar was high already. The room, a beach bungalow, was modern, fresh and very comfortable with stocked mini bar, including snacks, and wine fridge , the outside bathroom is quirky and we soon go used to it. Having our own little beach and access to the sea is dreamy. The restaurant offers every imaginable food you could wish for. Lots of gluten free options (I am wheat intolerant) everything is labelled so very easy. The staff are all lovely and polite and go out of their way to be helpful. The house reef is fabulous and you can snorkel from the beach or jetty steps. Each trip seeing turtles, rays and different fish every time. Very well equipped gym and nice pool, my only complaint (sounds pathetic) is the pool water is super warm if you want to cool down! Our only complaint was that we had to pay to hire fins, and whilst on an all inclusive package this seems a bit tight when we could take a wind surfer or kayak whereas on the first island fins were included for everyone. Aqua restaurant is absolutely perfect to watch the sun go down and the food is exquisite. This dining experience was included on our all inclusive package. I prebooked before we arrived on the island by email as the restaurant only caters for seven tables per night. The bar area is separate to the dining as has some form of very tasteful entertainment each evening. Little things like not being able to have a porn star martini without being charged on the all inclusive package annoyed me whereas the other island would make different items upon request without being charged. We were lucky to be on the island over Easter and had lots of fun with the Easter Egg hunt and kayak racing too. We won a couples massage and were so humbled by the beautiful experience in the Spa, the staff were very experienced and made the experience wonderful. The beach bar on the top of the island is a little spot of paradise after a snorkel or at the end of the day to watch the sun go down. The bar staff are fab and make delicious cocktails or the perfect G&T. Comfy sun loungers and lots of chairs. With a fab outside shower or a fully equipped bathroom should you want to shower, stocked with shower gel and shampoo etc Lovely send off early in the morning by an number of staff waving us goodbye to catch our sea plane. Very quirky 1 hour time difference to the rest of the Maldives to fit in with transfers to Male.

A small and very intimate island with all the wonderful comforts. The staff is extremely kind and attentive with discretion, the variety and quality of the restaurant are outstanding, and the diving center is very professional. the east side offers the best views. :)

Great service, very attentive staff, top food, very manageable facility which is in great shape. You really feel very comfortable as a guest. We are divers ... ProDivers just top ... very accommodating, top service in all areas and super nice dive sites!
