This is NOT a hotel, this is the Magic Island
There are luxury hotels and then there is Six Senses Laamu. By far the best experience my wife and I have ever had. If you are looking for a "Magical Island" that feels like you are in the "feet" of Robinson Crusoe (meets luxury) look no further.
It's important to note that, Six Senses Laamu is the only resort in its atoll. Most resorts in the Maldives have numerous hotels close from one another which makes it less exclusive and private.
We first arrived after a 70 minutes flight on a Seaplane from Malle. There is definitely resorts closer from the capital but again you will have neighbors. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by what they call a GEM (Guest Experience Maker), basically your best friend throughout your stay that is there for your every needs. Ours was named Shah. Shah was the kindest, caring and thoughtful GEM we could ever ask for. I define hospitality as giving more than what guests expect and Shah was one of the many hosts (that's how they refer to as their employees) who provided true hospitality. When Shah was not available we had Riq who was also exceptional and had an aura and energy that was very special.
The Resort Manager Freddy made also sure to greet us upon arrival as well as the Director of Operations Mina. Both went above and beyond our expectations, checking on us throughout our stay and asking what I believe is the ultimate question for guests, " how can we make your stay better?". A very hard question for us to be able to respond to as everything was so perfect.
Warren, one of the restaurant manager was an absolute gem. Warren remembered all of our special requests from after day 1 and made sure that we did not have to repeat them on the following days. Warren's smile is contagious and so we were not surprised that the rest of the hosts were also consistently smiling and looking happy to be at work. There are a couple of servers which we had the pleasure of being taken care by, Hisham and Zif who were exceptional at anticipating all of our needs. True rock stars and there were many more however I forgot their names.
The Magic Island has an incredible selection of ice creams (many vegan options as well) of over 40 different flavors. Guests can have as many as they want and guess what, they are all complimentary. Insane!! One of the host that served us ice cream was Saalim who realized that I liked coconut and so he delivered a special coconut ice cream that was not on their menu, again giving me something more that I would expect.
On our last day, we decided to use their Spa, terrible mistake on our part, why didn't we go from day 1?? My therapist, Nima, was exceptional and provided me with an incredible treatment called "Detox". One of the best treatment I have ever had. Those magical hands revived me before my surf lesson. Yes, there is surfing in Laamu and for all levels. I thought we would be surfing along the beach but I was wrong, we actually took a boat and ended up in the middle of the ocean surfing some of the best waves I have ever seen. I am more of a beginner that thinks he is intermediate and despite falling at times, it was very safe and an incredible surfing experience. Both Nicole and Theresa working for at the Surf Club were amazing to us and made sure we had the best surfing experience.
The housekeeping team was also excellent and every time we would be back in our room, the space looked perfect. Shamin was the room attendant and made sure as well that all of our requests were met.
We stayed on one of the overwater bungalow which had incredible views of the water, sunsets with amazing snorkeling at it's feet. There are many spaces for guests to hang out in those bungalows and so one evening we decided to order room service one and dine right by the water as the sun was setting.
Food overall is excellent, breakfast exceptional and catering to all diets, with tons of healthy options. We dined at Leaf on our last night, which has a menu that changes daily, they have a plant based forward set menu as well which was very tasty.
We also had the pleasure of meeting with Tan who although working in the Sales department, would come by at breakfast and speak with guests. Very friendly human being as well. Another encounter was with Eefu at the retail store who was very helpful. Sol the bartender was very sweet and kind to us as well.
There are so many more hosts that we encountered that were exceptional.
Thank you again for a magical experience, again this is NOT a hotel, this is a Magic Island!!

Tropical Paradise
From the moment you step onto Six Senses Laamu, everything slows down in the best possible way. The island is covered in lush greenery that feels like a tropical jungle, but then you turn a corner and there’s this perfect beach and insanely clear water. The house reef is right there—just grab a mask and you're in a whole other world full of colour and life.
What really makes it special, though, are the people. The staff are so warm and kind, never pushy, just genuinely there for you. It somehow feels familiar and relaxed, like you’re part of something, not just a guest.
The food is incredible—fresh, creative, and served in beautiful overwater restaurants that make every meal feel special. One of the absolute highlights was the trip to a private island—just us, the ocean, and untouched nature. It felt like stepping into a postcard or a film, completely alone on a tiny paradise. And the dolphin cruise... we saw so many dolphins jumping and playing around the boat, it honestly felt magical.
Thank you, Six Senses Laamu, for a time we’ll never forget.

Thank you!!
A real paraism removed from everything. Great seabed and great equipment as usual in Six Senses. Gastronomy deserves a separate mention: at the highest level, as if every dinner was a Michelin experience!!! Thank you to all the team at Six Senses laamu for the wonderful days spent in paradise.

Fantastic visit to a luxury tropical outpost
Traveling from the US to the Maldives is a long journey, and landing via seaplane at Six Senses Laamu feels like arriving at a tropical outpost. There is nothing ostentatious about this place, nor is there any shortage of comfort. Its luxury lies in its unique ability to allow its beautiful setting and ecology to amplify the guest experience. The simple, well-appointed accommodations, excellent food program, accessible and varied activities, and pleasant, tailored service combined in a way that made our visit one of the most enjoyable trips we’ve ever taken.
We loved our thoughtfully appointed over-water villa. Moving from the comfortable air conditioning of the sleeping and living room out into the outdoor shower and bathing areas kept us engaged with the nature we came to enjoy. From the sunset-facing deck, we could step directly into crystal-blue water and snorkel over the beautiful house reef and turtle- and ray-filled seagrass.
I can’t say enough good things about the food program. Whether we were enjoying complex flavor combinations artfully plated at Leaf, a perfectly grilled burger and fries at Sip Sip, or wahoo that we caught during a morning fishing excursion prepared four ways for lunch, every bite of every meal was spot-on in both service and execution.
We were surprised and pleased to learn about the ecologically sensitive practices and legitimate marine research taking place within the resort and the many ways they are interwoven throughout its operations. From meals incorporating island-fresh produce and eggs to guided tours led by staff biologists along the reefs, through the mangroves, and on sunset dolphin tours, there is an intentionality to the integration of local ecology that greatly enhances the overall experience.
Throughout our stay, our thoughtful GEM, Shah, made our visit effortless by always being one step ahead in planning our day-to-day activities and checking in regularly to ensure we were enjoying the best possible trip. His enthusiasm never waned! He even arranged a surprise early birthday treat for my wife at our last dinner. We would also be remiss not to give a shout-out to GEMs Abdullah and Bruce, who supported Shah during our stay. Thanks to all of you! That eagerness to help craft a memorable stay extended throughout the friendly, professional staff.
Given the travel distance, we embarked on this vacation believing it would be a once-in-a-lifetime visit to the Maldives. However, while five days were satisfying, we left feeling we could easily see ourselves returning to Six Senses Laamu for a longer soak.

Outstanding
Six Senses Laamu is a dream-place for me. I am overwhelmed by the very friendly and easygoing service, all the attention to details and the overall hospitality of the whole team. I was staying in a 2-bedroom Beach Villa (sharing with a friend), composing of Villa 87 and Villa 88. we had a shared pool, lots of indoor and outdoor space and two very separate Villas giving us each the most privacy. The space, the wooden structure, the colourful cushions, the very spacious outdoor bathroom and the easy accesss to the ocean - I really loved it all. The snorkelling AND the diving was a great experience and I´ve felt in very good hands - not to forget the phantastic culinary experience from early morning on. A special thanks to our GEM who could actually read our lips and anticipate our wishes even before I had even thought of them or even adressed them :-) - this service of a "personal" assistant was just perfect! I look forward to coming again, and I´ll defintely recommend Six Senses Laamu to my friends! Thank you very much, the whole team, for the great time you´ve created for me!
With best regards
