The Reef Coco Beach

We stayed at this hotel after more than 3 hours drive from Cancun, stuck in traffic jams. When we arrived at 10pm, no welcome drink was offered to us, although we saw it being served to other guests during the stay. Check-in was slow: one person managed all arrivals. We were asked to leave our suitcases when we got off the bus, but they never arrived in our room. We had to pick them up ourselves, they were hanging out in a corner of the lobby... a frankly average service for a hotel of this standing. Once at the counter, we ask if it is still possible to eat something. We are told that the buffet has just closed at 10:30 pm, without being informed on arrival. A small snack remained open, but the menu was limited to burgers and nachos. The first room allocated was on the garden level, very old: mini bar blocked by the wardrobe door, rusty mirrors, dirty bath sheet... We asked to change. The receptionist tells us that it will be possible the next day because the hotel is full. On our return from our excursion the next day, we were transferred to a much nicer and cleaner room. Thank you for your responsiveness. On the activity side, mini golf and being able to ride the bike was nice , too bad it was limited to 5:45 pm. The animation staff is very kind. Mexican and Italian restaurants are average: good Italian meat, but inedible tiramisu. Cocktails and juices are too sweet and chemical, in short undrinkable, only frozen strawberry daiquiris pass. Wine is undrinkable. We ended up doing an “alcohol-free run” for 10 days! Breakfast offers choice, but only bread of bread, which is strange considering the variety of breads offered at lunch and evening. Fruit juices are chemical, too bad no fresh juice. No lunch box for departures before breakfast, we left 3 mornings on excursion around 6:30 am and so without breakfast, they apparently just offer coffee, I do not drink it. Meals are decent but repetitive, with few Mexican specialties, Monday sushi is very good. No ice cream for the kids. We ate much better during the excursions, with typical and tasty dishes. Another important point: the deckchairs are taken by storm from 6:30 in the morning, at the beach as well as at the pool. But the biggest blackout of our stay remains the very unpleasant experience linked to a disguised commercial presentation. A very nice lobby employee approaches us to talk about the stay and invites us to participate in a “presentation of the hotel” with 2 massages offered. She insists that this does not commit to anything. We accept. On site, after lunch with another person who asks a lot of questions about our travel habits, we are taken to a building facing the sea, where we quickly understand that it is actually a disguised sale of holiday clubs (3 paid web platforms over 10 years). Polite refusal on our part, and there the tone changes: pressure, aggression, we are told that they were “wasted time”. A very unpleasant experience, which spoils the image of the hotel. Every day, we saw them starting over with new customers... We still had our massage, but again, the spa employees made it clear that we should leave a big tip as it was “offered”. It’s the first time I’ve experienced this kind of thing on holiday, and I find it inappropriate. Finally on a positive note: the housekeepers are adorable, the rooms are well maintained, and the hotel is very well located, just a stone’s throw from Fifth Avenue. Remember to bring a bottle: there are no plastic bottles, only water fountains. The beach to the right of the hotel is beautiful. The one on the left (towards Coco Beach) is covered in sargasm, but the crew does their best to clean up every day. Our excursions with Pixan Riviera (in French) were excellent: Chichén Itzá, Holbox and Tulum, perfectly organized and without hidden costs. In summary: a decent hotel if you are not looking for luxury, but with several points to improve.

It is not a village, after 9 pm he died!! Not even a little music. Barely acceptable beach with the drain of the sewer next door in what to see it looks like a spectacular beach 😞. Personally, I felt bad about the smell. Avoid it

The hotel is nice and welcoming, not the biggest but with enough options in the entertainment and activities department. Staff is nice for the most part specially guys around the pool, they were amazing, and the food and drink is sufficient with nice surprises for the pallet here and there. The circus show was amazing and the rooms are nice although I didn't love that the smoking area it's not welcoming nor practical and the minibar made me feel also that way. Hopefully the hotel will take care of those aspects soon.

Nice resort, right on the beach and walking distance to 5th Avenue. We had a spacious room with sea view. A large swimming area of the Caribbean sea was blocked off so that we did not suffer from the seaweed. For breakfast there was a buffet where there was plenty of choice of regional dishes and international. If you haven’t booked an all inclusive, you can eat around the corner at the pizzeria or on 5th Avenue.

Technicians enter your room without warning. In my case I only went down to eat and when I went upstairs they were in my room without warning or authorization, among my intimate things. A man among my intimate things, when I'm staying alone and I'm a woman. I couldn't sleep in peace the rest of the day. I felt a violation of my privacy.
