3. 48H FREE CANCELLATION PERIOD

You then have 48 hours to take care of other travel arrangements. Your credit card will only be charged after that period

Best dive sites in Malapascua

Monad Shoal – This submerged sea mount is Malapascua’s most famous dive site and the best spot for thresher sharks sightings. Diving here is either a “swimming dive” or on a stationary line waiting for the sharks to approach. Close encounters with these incredible predators are not unusual. It’s a thrilling experience and a must-do if visiting the Philippines to dive. Gato Island – This marine reserve and sea snake sanctuary offers a huge diversity of marine life. You’ll find stunning corals, swim throughs and rock formations, abundant fish life and a plethora of critters. Look out for schooling fish and cruising reef sharks. It’s a beautiful dive and every dive here is different. Lapus Lapus – Offering arguably the best coral in Malapascua, this is a kaleidoscopic site which always impresses. You can find frogfish, mantis shrimp, scorpionfish, cuttlefish and octopus on the reef. Macro critters hide out in the shallow water soft coral garden and there is an excellent variety of reef fish. Butong Bato – This underwater pinnacle site is located close to Malapascua and is home to a large school of resident batfish. Corals here are healthy, vibrant and varied. Macro photographers will enjoy the nudibranch species and tiny crustaceans including zebra crabs and whip coral shrimps. Chocolate Island – An absolute must for macro photographers. Chocolate Island is a critter haven and regular sightings include flamboyant cuttlefish, Pegasus seamoths, nudibranch, flatworms, octopus, cowries and a host of shrimps and crustaceans.

Exotic Island Dive & Beach Resort is a relaxed beachfront hotel and PADI 5* Instructor Development Center located on Malapascua Island in the Philippines.

The resort offers a range of room types for every budget, all featuring private bathrooms, 24-hour power supply and spacious balconies overlooking the lush tropical gardens. The white sand beach is just a short stroll away, creating an ideal setting for divers and beach-lovers alike.

Facilities include a well-reviewed restaurant, a massage spa, a bar, WiFi access, an internet café and safety deposit boxes at reception. As the pioneering dive center that first discovered Malapascua’s thresher sharks back in 1997, the resort remains a top choice for underwater photographers and marine-life enthusiasts.

How to get there

Arrival

  • The resort will arrange a private transfer to collect you from Cebu International Airport or Maya Pier (advance notice requred, additional cost). 
  • The journey will take around 3-4 hours to get from Cebu to Maya Pier, then 1 hour's boat ride from Maya Pier to Malapascua Island. Final boats leave from Maya Port to Malapascua at 5pm. You should arrive before that, or the resort will find you alternative accommodation for that night. (night crossings are no longer allowed). 
  • Night time travel of the Boat between 5pm to 5am is strictly not allowed anymore.
  • An additional PHP 20 will be expected as a tip for the porter at Maya Pier. 
  • Check in time is 2pm.
  • Early check in can only be accommodated upon request and subject to room availability. 

Departure

  • Check out time is 10am. 
  • Late check out can only be accomodated upon request and subject to room availability. 
  • The resort will arrange a transfer to take you back to Cebu International AIrport or Maya Pier (advance notice required, additional cost). 
  • Please note that return transfers arranged for after 5pm will be viewed as night time travel and charged extra (PHP 1,200 extra per car or van and PHP 1,200 extra per boat).
