We dive all sites on the island and choose the best dive sites on the day, this depends mainly on sea conditions but also on diver experience level and preferences. We do not mix experienced with inexperienced divers.
We always meet at our shop, either at 8 am or at 12:30 pm, where you will complete the paperwork and try the gear on. From our shop we drive to the boat launching spot of the day, this can be in the North, South or East. The car drive takes about 3 to 15 minutes. At the boat launching spot every one sets up their gear. Launching the boat only takes two minutes. Boat rides to the dive sites are between 3 and 25 minutes, depending on the dive site. At the dive site our guides will give you a detailed briefing, after the briefing we help you to kit up and get you in the water. After the first dive we have a break, either on the boat or we go back to shore to change tanks and then head out again to the second dive site of the day. After the second dive we take you back to our dive centre, wahs the gear and fill out log books.
Rarotonga has usually very clear water, the average visibility is around 20 meters, but 40 to 60 meters visibility is not rare here. The water temperature ranges between 23°C in winter and 28°C in summer. Rarotonga's reefs have healthy hardcoral formations and an abundant fish life. Rarotonga is not a "big fish" destination, but apart for the smaller reef dwellers we also have the bigger reef inhabitants like reef sharks, turtles, eagle rays, humhead wrasses, barracudas, tunas and trevalleys. And in winter you may even get lucky and see hammerhead sharks or migranting humpback whales...
Our shop is located by Aroa Beach on the main road right on the south-west corner of the island, about 100 meters north (clockwise) from The Rarotongan Beach Resort and Lagonarium.
