Stockholm archipelago and especially the area around Dalarö is full of shipwrecks. intact wooden wrecks dating all the way back from the 1600´s. There are steel ships too. The wrecks tell us the history of Swedish naval battles, cargo eras and trading routes. this area is unique and hold alot of secrets.
Vrakdykarpensionatet Captain Baltic
PADI 5 Star Dive CenterWreck diving in Stockholm, Sweden!
The Baltic Sea is a unique sea. Above all for the large collection of wrecks that hide under the surface, but also for the sensitive marine flora and fauna. Since man learned to build boats, the population around the coasts of the Baltic Sea has depended on shipping for trade and transport. Many naval battles have also taken place at the swells of the world's most peaceful country.
The brackish water means that what has once landed on the bottom of the Baltic Sea stays there longer than we can imagine and gives us a unique opportunity to experience them again.
There are thousands of wrecks and a lot of other kinds of remains, each of which tells a story. Wreck diving in Stockholm shows an important, largely untouched part of our cultural heritage. Intact wooden ships of the great empire era, world wars, the era of steamships, dumped ships, collisions, fishing vessels and the occasional insurance fraud.
Even though we have more modern technology and different knowledge than what was done in the past, it is the same rock formations, islands and waters that we view during our passage through the Stockholm archipelago.
Some of the wrecks we dive on are known for a long time and marked with buoys. We find others with sonars and charts. The wrecks lie at all depths from a couple of meters down to the bottom of the sea. Many of the wrecks we dive on regularly lie between 15-35 meters deep. There are deeper wrecks for those with experience.
Dalarö Divepark is a selection of our oldest most pristine wrecks.
We go out for a day out at sea and do 2 dives with lunch between dives. To join you need to be an experienced coldwater diver in a drysuit and bringa. good torch.
