Description

Join Insider Divers and Manta Trust on this cruise to Komodo National Park

Discover warm, calm and colourful reefs alive with hundreds of colourful reef fishes to current-swept dives around sea-mounts, walls and pinnacles patrolled by sharks, eagle rays and turtles.

We will get up close with many manta rays at the various cleaning stations throughout the park. Learn from Julie Hartup of Manta Trust about manta biology and how to identify them. She will also give us talks on behaviour of these magnificent creatures.

There are also great macro dives encountering pygmy seahorses, clown frogfish, nudibranchs and octopus. Komodo offers some of the widest dive opportunities in the world. Sailing on our luxury dive vessel we will enjoy the unique island nature and of course also get to see the world-famous Komodo Dragon.

Check out the trip report from 2018 trip to Komodo.

Other Information

Good to know

  • Our itinerary includes the famous Northern and central sites as well as the lesser visited Southern sites (weather and current pending) giving you the best maximum of this area
  • Diving in Komodo is extremely varied. There will be reef dives, drift dives, current dives with hook, macro dives and night dives. Depending on our location we will be doing 3-4 dives a day including night dives and maybe black water dives
  • Nitrox is free on this trip to maximize our time underwater
  • Learn from Julie Hartup of the Manta Trust about manta rays behaviour. We will also ID and count the manta rays and match them to earlier records.
  • Simon Lorenz will offer talks on photography and coach individuals above and below the water

Logistics

  • This trip is a liveaboard trip starting and leaving from Labuanbajo
  • Our vessel SeaSafari 7 has a large dive deck, two speed boats and camera tables. Every room has private bathroom and individual aircon. There are two choices of room – lower cabin downstairs and upstairs with seaview and closer to the deck
  • The boat is built for 26 divers but we will only travel with 12-16 divers allowing for lots of space
