Trip

  • Liveaboard
  • Thailand
  • 08 Apr - 12 Apr, 2020, 4 nights
  • 8 - 10 people group

Description

Join award-winning photographer and instructor Simon Lorenz to the famed Similan Islands.

Home to the healthiest reefs and the best marine life in Thailand, the world famous marine park Mu Ko Similan has been under protection since the eighties and has therefore maintained good reef cover and plentiful fish stocks.

Reef sharks and leopard sharks are very common as well as many schooling fish. But the famous pelagics such as Manta Rays and even the Whale shark can be spotted here on occasion as well.

The key season is December to May and particularly in March and April we have the clearest, warmest and calmest waters allowing for the best diving that this region has to offer.

Other Information

Good to know

  • During our trip we will dive mostly 4 times a day including night dives so on this 4 night trip we will manage to do 14 dives, weather permitting. We will dive Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and of course Richelieu Rock as well as Khao Lak wrecks. All of these are of cours weather permitting but April is one of the calmest months of the year
  • Simon will host several talks on local marine life and photography. If you are looking to improve your photography Simon will offer coaching above and below the water

Logistics

  • The best is to arrive during the day in Phuket International Airport (HKT) during the day of the 8th April and return on 13th April. You can also fly out in the evening of the 12th April but then you will miss the two morning dives we will do on 12th. Do not book a flight before 5pm on the 12th April
  • If you are traveling from far I always recommend to arrive a day early, as flight delays have to be planned for these days. If you miss the departure of the boat there is no way to catching up and the entire trip is lost
  • Once the group is set I will propose a hotel where we can all stay together for the 12th evening, probably in Khao Lak along the beach
