Join Abyss Scuba for epic wreck diving on SS President Coolidge in the South Pacific Islands.
SS President Coolidge was a 22,200-tonne luxury passenger liner commandeered as a WW2 troop ship that was a carrier vessel only; never meant to see combat. She hit a friendly mine in 1942 and the Captain steered her onto the reef. The troops left everything in place as they evacuated the ship, thinking they would be able to salvage it in the coming days, but the ship gracefully slid off the reef and landed on its port side stern.
A dream for most divers, this unique wreck is the largest, most accessible wreck in the world. With 200km of wreck to explore and partial or full penetration possible, divers often return multiple years running to discover every corner of this underwater time capsule. In terms of marine life, you're likely to see trigger fish, lionfish, nudibranchs and - if you're in the know - the resident moray named Nessie.
We'll be staying at Coral Quays Fish and Dive Resort, a 3* boutique retreat boasting perfect views over the Segond Channel. An excellent spring board for adventure, we'll spend our week diving and relaxing in tropical paradise.
