What you can expect
The Carpe Diem was the first boat of the fleet and started operating in 2008 and the reason for the start of the company Carpe Diem Maldives Pvt. Ltd. The Carpe Diem was built in the Maldives fully out of wood by Amir Mansoor who is also the owner of the boat. The boat has 10 Cabins divided over 3 Decks and can cater for a maximum of 20 people. The boat is accompanied by a diving dhoni (tender) and a small speedboat (dingy). The Carpe Diem caters for scuba diving trips, surfing trips, fishing trips or tailor made cruises for exclusive groups.
Carpe Diem sleeps 20 Divers in 10 cabins. No matter which cabin you chose, all have individual air conditioning, in-room safe and en-suite bathrooms. The standard cabins are located below deck. 4 have a Queen double with a separate Single bed. There are a further 2 Twin/Bunk bed only cabins. There are 2 Main Deck cabins with a Queen double bed and glorious views. These are ideal for Single Occupancy as well as Couples. There is a TV in each cabin. Moving upstairs, you find the Deluxe Star cabin. This is one of the larger cabins on board with a Queen size bed and large windows. Or for an extra special upgrade option, the Suite is perfect. This is a massive cabin on the Upper Deck with a King size bed and masses of storage space. The sea views are exceptional as well as the creature comforts!
On the Main Deck you will find a large Saloon area with tea, coffee and drinking water. This is the hub of the boat, where briefings are given. There is a large flat screen and audio system. Outside of the lounge is an outdoor seating area. All meals are also served al fresco in the dedicated Dining Area on the Upper Deck. Head right upstairs to the Sun Deck to soak up the views, work on your tan or just relax in the shade with a good book from the boat's library.
Please be aware, Open Water certification (or equivalent) Divers are welcome on board. However, due to the nature of the diving in the Maldives, you will be required to complete the Advanced Open Water certification on board (local charges apply).
Guests enjoy semi buffet style meals prepared by a fine dining chef in an open air dining and bar area located at the back of the boat
On board the Carpe Diem liveaboard you can expect a wide menu consisting of dishes from a range of genres including Maldivian, Thai, Chinese and Italian, as well as International fare and the occasional BBQ. There are always plenty of fresh ingredients used, including fresh fruit, vegetables and seafood. The air-conditioned Restaurant and open-air dining areas offer 3 main dishes per sitting, buffet with waitress service. Coffee, tea and drinking water and fruit are provided free of charge, Soft drinks, fruit juices, milk shakes, mineral water and beer are available for purchase and there is a large cocktail and wine list. The dining service begins with afternoon snacks and evening dinner on the first evening of the cruise. Special dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice.
